I just tried this recipe with my 9 yr old daughter and we were very happy with the outcome. It was fluppy and soft and more delicious when we filled with butter. 12 yrsold palang po ako, new to baking!👩🏻🍳 super ez lang po sundin ng recipe since all of the instructions are written down with all the details po, I substituted “whole-wheat flour” for all purpose flour and i’ve also used “ milk powder” (diluted in 1 1/4cup water) instead of milk. for a healthier version for my fam ,It turned out amazing po! tysm for the recipe, proud po sakin family ko!! 💓 recommended tip & ideas nga po pala! : ~the pandesal can be filled w/ filling such as cheese, corned beef, and tuna filling para sosyal po🤣 ~this recipe can be turned into “dinner rolls” by skipping the breadcrumbs and just brushing it with “egg wash” instead. ~para po sa may gusto ng ube version nito, just add 1-2 tsp of ube flavoring sa dough yun lang po!! 💓

currently following along & making this! UPDATE: they were AMAZING! i only made half a batch and they were gone within a few hours. about to make a whole batch now. thanks kuya :) side note: i didnt have bread crumbs but i made my own super easily. not quite the same, but they did the job. i toasted a slice a bread extra crispy (but not burnt) and crumbled it once it cooled, then put it through a fine mesh strainer. 10/10

Dear Kuya Gil: Thank you for sharing your recipe. I followed to the T except I used bread flour, active yeast, Himalayan pink salt powder, and all organic ingredients. thank you for a very detailed procedures. I hope i can make this bread as soft and fluffy as yours. I am just learning through watching from different youtubers. I understood fully now about the yeast. The last time i baked my ensaymada, i panicked why the yeast won't disolved well. and i only waited for a minute and i didnt cover it. I continued to mix and pour the remaining ingredients. The bread texture was rough and not delicious to bite, it was never fluffy. But during the kneading, the dough was so soft. During baking, i thought it was not yet done, so i adjusted the temperature. And the result it got burnt. I have to eat them anyway, coz if not ,money would be wasted and all my efforts too.

Dear Kuya Gil: Thank you for this recipe from the bottom of my heart. I live alone overseas so I have had to learn to cook a lot of Filipino dishes. I really miss pandesal so I tried to make it. I am not a baker so I failed a couple of times. Finally I did your recipe like a scientist. It helped that you described each step blow by blow. I measured, I timed, I watched my yeast bubble as if it was a Petri dish. Finally I made a successful batch. As I bit into it I became a child again. We would buy pandesal from the corner store, 4 pcs for 1 peso, put in a brown paper bag. It was a simple breakfast, but far better than what I would buy later as a grown up, the manufactured bread from Pan de Manila which didn’t have the same softness or chewiness. Happiness can come from something so simple as a piece of bread! Again thank you very much for this recipe. I hope to learn more from you. God bless!

Marami na akong na try peru hindi ko nagustohan ang lasa. peru ito 💯% nagustohan ko. And gagawa ako ulit, kasi kalahati lang yong ginawa ko kahapon. Hindi ko kasi alam kong magugustohan ko. At pinalitan ko lng yong fresh milk, mas pinili ko yong evap na milk kay sa fresh kasi gusto kong ma achieve yong old na lasa na kinalakihan ko sa probensya. At nagpalaman din ako ng cheese 🧀 subrang perfect. Thankyou so much kuya, deserve mo yong pasalamatan ka. Thank you for this recipe! I've tried this recipe today and guess what?it turned out great! I have tried at least 2 recipes and I didn't succeed with both. My husband loves pandesal. When we're still in Dubai he would go to Satwa and buy pandesal.

Hi Kuya Gil. I really like your recipe, it’s fluffy and soft. My hubby loved the pandesal. Will you be able to share a big batch of pandesal recipe? I tried the whole wheat big batch recipe but found it more wet than usual so I added more apf. I think the measurements of the whole wheat flour is different with the apf. If you have po a big batch all purpose flour pandesal recipe or even with a bread flour pandesal, please do share. Thank you for sharing your talent. God bless.

Hello Rochelle! The proofing time is really short because of the high amount of yeast in the recipe. With warm weather, you can proof it as short as 30 min! This is the quickest pandesal that you can make, but there’s a quicker version! Just wait for my upcoming video.

This is the best instruction I found to make Pandesal. I do have a question though because it only asked for 3 tbsp of sugar and I was told it lacked some flavor. Can I add more sugar or vanilla extract to make it sweeter and not adjust any of the other ingredients?

Add 1/2 - 1 tbsp sugar if it’s lacking some flavor. >1 1/4 of salt to me is salty.
