I've tried a few of thoes the only one that could grip a plumbing fitting or polished peice and not potentially damage it was the knipex with soft jaws. I tried the ips water pump pliers and they almost worked. I think the knipex extreme leverage ratio is the only thing making them work. We use to put electrical tape on flat jaw water pump pliers and that works better than alot of thoes plastic jaws. This can't be the only time it's said forget the rest go straight to knipex. If you cut up a fernco that rubber works too.

Try the Knipex 81-11-250. I use them in all my chrome or polished plumbing jobs, the grip well without marring.

I always put t some tape on the pliers jaw. My only plastic jaw pliers are made entirely from fiberglass reinforced plastic and insulated to 1000V. I use them for grabbing delicate objects, but I think in your case you need soft and grippy material on the jaws. I used silicone hose on the pliers jaw, or even bycicle inner tube may work.

I have the blue handle tsunodas. They soft let coming off so I had to put a dab of superglue. No problem since. I use them regularly and they haven’t worn out at all…though never used rough

I'd imagine the Cobra soft jaw inserts would work very well. They have grooves & teeth but 'should' grab round stock better theman the flat jaw. I know u can get the soft jaw for the 10" & maybe the 7. But Ive not seen the inserts for the 5". Great video.

I'll probably stick with SmallRig Super Clamps for unscrewing the bezel from a flashlight by breaking the glue on the threads. The next best thing seems to be vice grip locking pliers with a big strip of rubber from a strap wrench. And then an actual strap wrench for large diameters.

I've got a few different styles of IPS pliers. They're great for general, round the house pliers.i haven't had the chance to use them for much mechanic work yet. They still do more handwork in their manufacturing process than most others now. I kinda like that, it gives them a little character, but they're still good pliers. The spring action makes the easier to manipulate, for me anyway. I've had those on my list for a while.

If the Tool does not say "made in Japan" then it's made in Thailand. Long Nose PLA-iers (Resin Jaw Pliers), like the TTC series you have.

Wouldn't it be better to simply use a standard pair of pliers with a piece of cloth? Surely would grip better and be less likely to mar the workpiece.
