Soft plastic fishing for Redfin in the Campaspe River

Armed with a light rod and a Z-man slim swimz soft plastic on a TT rev heads jig head, I headed to a promising spot with flowing oxygenated water next to some backwater to try to tempt a Redfin. It was a coolish 21 degrees with a firm wind, but the fish were out to play!
I managed to land some fish for dinner, as well as gently get back into fishing after my recent surgery to have my gallbladder removed. I'm recovering well, no longer taking meds, and able to move around and do most things as long as I avoid heavy lifting.

Thanks mate I had my gallbladder removed, procedure and recovery have been smooth luckily. The cod are starting to shut down as the weather cools down but I'm hoping to be able to get onto a couple more before they go off the bite completely!

@@RKJFishing May be a few week before I get out fishing. My busy season for work is from October through to April. I also started another business which I will fess up in a video and let you all in on it. It is fishing related. In short yes I do plan more video's. I also have about 1050 sub on another channel and it has been as long since I have uploaded on it also. Life sometime just gets in the way. Oh and I do not plan another capsizing video lol.

Hi Phillip thank you so much! I have caught redfin on normal plastics and jigs in both rivers, the Campaspe is actually reasonably clear at the moment so that might have helped things. I've fished in lakes with very cloudy water with straight plastics and had success before as well, as long as the plastic has a good action it must disturb the water enough to draw attention from a distance, but it's all guesswork lol. I do find spinners work better than plastics in murkier water though. I've never caught a yella on a plastic to be honest, but I'm sure that will come with time.
