*Work in a well-ventilated area and always wear safety glasses and wear a mask. Using a fan in the room helps. A smoke/fume absorber is better. Always use lead-free solder.

i don't have one of those steel template things yet because of cost but.... i think i can make a mushroom with clay covered in copper foil to do this cute lil pendant

Do you recommend any particular model of soldering iron ? One That you are able to do delicate designs With ?

I have learned so much from your videos and I thank you !! I see in the materials list that you use both a fume, smoke extractor and the air purifier. I can see the need for a fume, smoke extractor but do I still need an air purifier?? I ask because my husband is on oxygen 24/7 and I solder in the garage, I have an air purifier in house but ??

Hi Sharon! You don't need both. A fume extractor is made for soldering but if you don't yet have one, an air purifier on the table positioned right where you are soldering (close by) is an okay substitute. For example, in my workshop I will use a fume extractor, but in my home if I am soldering at the dining table I will put the air purifier right on the table where I am working to suck in the fumes. Always wear a mask as well. If you are in the garage be sure to open the garage door and have a fan positioned to circulate the air. Safety is #1!

It will eventually naturally tarnish being exposed to oxygen, humidity

I followed step by step. I can’t get my solder to stick to the copper. Any tips?

That could be de to a number of things. Clean the metal, use fresh chemicals, a hot enough iron.

No it would be too flimsy, you should use thicker metal. You could try it but it would not hold its shape. Thanks for watching!
