This will be a great early season drill. I'm compiling a lot, then trimming the fat. I'm Managing U10-11 Fastpitch...I'll have my hands full with pitching....and catchers. I need drills that will keep the team busy and for my coach and parents that i make volunteer. Every yr the kids and parents get an eye opener...I'm a Defensive coach..."When are we batting"...."later" I know other coaches are gamer's and will play trick ball...At the end of last season. I was approached by to Travel coaches, looking for girls that had a grasp of the fundamentals. Remember Moms and Dads. Buy a hitting tee and a net....practice hitting at home. The team that can put the other team out fastest bats more

I don't like the idea of pulling the glove in to the gut after fielding the ball. You should field through the ball. Ron Washington, former player and Braves 3B coach has excellent drills teaching the proper technique.

You are confusing what Ron Washington is teaching. He's teaching how to field short hops. Watch any MLB infielder and they do exactly what this gal is teaching. Field the ball out front at the top of the triangle & funnel to the middle of your body and then to your throwing position. Watch Derek Jeter, Javier Baez, Corey Seager, Nolan Arenado, etc.... Checkout the KZbin videos put out by former MLB player, Mark Antonilli. Some of the best around.

I get what you're saying, and this may be overexaggerated, but any time you transfer a ball, you're going to pull it into your body - important thing is to play through the with your legs so you are moving toward your target.
