iDrumDJENT I agree. The problem comes up when there may be only one or two loved ones in they’re lives, what seems to happen, is the loved ones don’t know what to door Think they are “bad”and it’s they’re own fault, helped before and are tied of helping or say I helped them before they didn’t get they’re act together,The loved ones are awful people or addicts themselves(and might be responsible for why they are addicted)So the problem always goes back to how they were raised. In recovery they will have to confront that.Society is all these things.Education is key,parental,moral,job...but early when there young. And yes I have experienced that living hell.I agree we have to find our own way, If a person was missing there sight and needed help, others would be helping that person no questions asked.People in crisis are literally lost with no direction so it’s going to take multiple times to help them.Hopefully they are ready to get the help if it comes at the right time,so they can find there way.We did start the addiction, and it’s up to us to ultimately stop it but I don’t believe the fault only lies with us entirely,No one starts out wanting to loss their job loose family and friends, loose there place to stay and their health...there is an underlying reason why it went that far... this is a messy would. I’m happy you found your way. ....stay safe

@@gamewithtize7121 I'm speaking to the genetic and environmental triggers that contribute to the underlying mental condition of an at risk person. Addicts are seeking asylum from their trauma. The correlation to mental illness alongside a lacking societal support system is too high to be ignored. While someone may have chosen to pick up a drug, they did not choose to set off the chain of events that brought them to that point. No one would choose to ruin their life and possibly lose it unless they were outrunning something worse. Bro.

People need to be heard, and without people ready to interject their thoughts of, "you should JUST do this", without any real empathy. The older I've got, the more i try to see the other side, because we're all different mentally, genetically, situationally, etc. Society would be better if we tried more to understand and love others, even when we think they deserve it least. It doesn't mean you set your self up to be weak and abused, or let others take advantage of you, either. Love comes with boundaries too

Girl, yes. I did the same. Spent 4 years of my life with a man who only spiraled further and further into herpin addiction. He left me in the hospital, in labor, to go get high. When our daughter was 1 I left for good. He had put his hands on me. He pulled me to the floor by my hair, got on top of me, covered my mouth pinning me to the ground, and screamed SHUT THE FUCK UP into my face when I tried to stop him from getting more heroin. I packed up and left that day. Drove 300 miles for a new life. My (NOT OUR because he deserves NO credit) daughter is almost 7 now. She's amazing and beautiful and thriving. She has 2 baby sisters and a daddy (my husband-her step dad) who love her whole heartedly. He hasn't seen her in 6 years. He might be dead, idk. All I know is that I chose right the day I chose to leave.

I'm a former heroin addict. I lost so much as a result of my choices during that time and it really irks me when others, who have not experienced anything close to a addiction. Unless u have felt, been through and know what that feeling, that despair and utter hell feels like, dont pass judgement. Its fucking rough. However, with a shitton of work, it can change, u can change. What we did during our addictions is NOT who we are inside. I could really resonate with this dude. The feelings hes speaking about, everything. Unfortunately most addicts dont and wont and alot of time, have no desire to get clean until they have finally reached the end, they've lost everything and everyone, that's when people have the best chance. I'd love to talk to other addicts, share my experiences and my life and what can happen and what does happen but also where that lead me, 6 years off the needle. Never thought I'd see the day. Dont ever ever lose hope, hope is what keeps u fighting to stay alive. TY for putting this type of content out, in some gain some understanding and maybe some compassion for others who struggle. Trauma, childhood or adulthood. That's a HUGE part in what sends people to find relief. We need more channels like this out there. XOXOXOXOX

I still have my wife, so he kinda gave me a look into my future if I don’t get it together. It’s very rare that you hear someone hit the nail on the head when asked what addiction is like and he just told you all the truth. It’s harder than anything you can imagine putting yourself through, not only physically but mentally just as much. People who want to help end up just making you mad and you shut them out, I’ve ruined more relationships with family and friends than I’ve got room in the comment. Seriously, thank you SWU for giving people like Ryley a voice so people like me can hear it. ❤️

I moved out with our two children. His now in prison facing 8 years. If that is the case our son will be 12, our daughter 10 and he would never see the birth of his third child. Our son doesn't even want to get a haircut because he used to get his haircut with his dad. The pain felt by family is unimaginable and the only way to relieve any of that pain is to seek treatment and recovery. It is possible. Best of luck.

This one hits hard, as do most of the videos on this channel. But this guy reminds me so much of my younger brother who sadly passed three years ago of heroin overdose. Miss him every day and this guy just reminds me so much of him. I hope he's doing good as he seems like a great guy much like my brother. The message of this channel, putting a scope on this through love and compassion and understanding we can start to change and treat each other better is incredible. Thanks Mark.

It’s shocking to me how large of a percentage of the population are unaware of the genetic component of addiction, and aren’t making the connection here to his fathers alcoholism. What’s more appalling for me is that people still feel they have the right to judge this individual like he has a behavioural problem. Addiction is a not a choice but a serious disease that impacts an individual, their families, friends and their community. The judgement here is unproductive and reflective of ignorance.

No one has the right to judge an addict if they haven’t been through the same path addiction starts off as a choice but turns into a disease and I don’t blame them for doing drugs because every addict is looking for happiness and something to heal their pain life’s not easy you just gotta get through it some other way instead of doing drugs

When he was talking about how the drug IS survival.... that is so true. You don't recognize yourself anymore. It's like you know what you're doing is bad, but you don't care because you need that drug. You can have all the common sense in the world and still keep using because nothing else fills that void inside of you. I feel for this kid. My experience was very similar when I was using. I hope he comes out of this ok.

My family has dealt (for lack of better term) with my sisters addiction since she was 20 years old. She is now 37. Clean on and off. One year here, 4 months there, and currently going on 2 years! So super proud of her! She still battles with self esteem and her regret of the past. It’s amazing but I will always have that fear in the back of my mind that she will fall back into that deep dark path. I don’t blame her. She knows what my tough love looks like. Sometimes I feel it’s harder on me than her. But no matter what, I will always be there to pick her up when she falls. The scariest part is, most people do not recognize the warning signs until it’s too late.
