And yes I have experienced that living hell.I agree we have to find our own way, If a person was missing there sight and needed help, others would be helping that person no questions asked.People in crisis are literally lost with no direction so it’s going to take multiple times to help them.Hopefully they are ready to get the help if it comes at the right time,so they can find there way.We did start the addiction, and it’s up to us to ultimately stop it but I don’t believe the fault only lies with us entirely,No one starts out wanting to loss their job loose family and friends, loose there place to stay and their health...there is an underlying reason why it went that far... this is a messy would. Unless u have felt, been through and know what that feeling, that despair and utter hell feels like, dont pass judgement. Its fucking rough. However, with a shitton of work, it can change, u can change. What we did during our addictions is NOT who we are inside. I could really resonate with this dude. Sometimes being alone is what you need to re figure yourself and to actually apply yourself in treatment don’t see it as something shitty even if it is cuz now you can concentrate on yourself. That’s what you need, we’re all limited in capabilities as humans and maybe having a family at the moment was too hard to deal with while being an addict. I’m a 26 yr old heroin addict myself with my first kid on the way, a little girl will be here in November. This interview was like watching myself tell my story, it was odd and really eye opening. I still have my wife, so he kinda gave me a look into my future if I don’t get it together. It’s very rare that you hear someone hit the nail on the head when asked what addiction is like and he just told you all the truth. It’s harder than anything you can imagine putting yourself through, not only physically but mentally just as much. People who want to help end up just making you mad and you shut them out, I’ve ruined more relationships with family and friends than I’ve got room in the comment. Seriously, thank you SWU for giving people like Ryley a voice so people like me can hear it. ❤️

I hope you can get help. I am pregnant with my third, a girl, also due in November. My children's father is a heorin addict, he was clean for 5 years, relapsed at the beginning of the year. I moved out with our two children. His now in prison facing 8 years. If that is the case our son will be 12, our daughter 10 and he would never see the birth of his third child. Our son doesn't even want to get a haircut because he used to get his haircut with his dad. The pain felt by family is unimaginable and the only way to relieve any of that pain is to seek treatment and recovery. It is possible. Best of luck.

It’s shocking to me how large of a percentage of the population are unaware of the genetic component of addiction, and aren’t making the connection here to his fathers alcoholism. What’s more appalling for me is that people still feel they have the right to judge this individual like he has a behavioural problem. Addiction is a not a choice but a serious disease that impacts an individual, their families, friends and their community. The judgement here is unproductive and reflective of ignorance.

@@bm4114 Relax dude, it was just a compliment. Enough with this Karen bullshit, she was just paying him a compliment, nothing more nothing less.

No, I just honestly never thought about how this path started for people. So it gives me a different look at things and I talk to my family and we are more open about the struggles that happen so we can help before anyone gets too low.

I’ve been off that for two years and I have a pretty good life. Life wasn’t horrible but it was so unmanageable. I am so grateful that I got another chance to turn things around. I don’t care how many times you have to go to rehab, get help or turn things around. Don’t give up! You might slip up but get back up. We’ve all been given God-given talents and your time to shine is now.
