It must have been unbelievably confusing for Onami to be in a structured society that was consistent and predictable, but ultimately unhealthy. Paradoxically, I think this gave her an advantage in improving the rules and structures in her life that benefited her once she put a complete stop to all the problems. People who grow up without any structure would likely have a harder time doing the same. She really has a voice for those who grew up in a structured but messed up situation.

@edoherty56516 сағат бұрын
@jamienimitz6864 She still needs support to work through everything that she has endured to sort out issues around consent. A reference to a guess of what might be happening.... A **double bind** in psychology refers to a situation where an individual receives two or more conflicting messages or demands, and no matter how they respond, they will be in trouble or face negative consequences. These contradictory demands create a kind of "catch-22" or an inescapable dilemma, where the person cannot meet both expectations, often leading to confusion, stress, or anxiety. The concept was first explored by Gregory Bateson and his colleagues in the 1950s, particularly in relation to dysfunctional communication patterns in families. A classic example of a double bind might be a parent telling a child, "You should express yourself, but don’t be angry." The child receives two opposing messages: they are encouraged to express themselves, but the emotional tone of their expression is restricted, leading to confusion about how to behave. In a double bind, there's often no clear solution, which can cause emotional or psychological distress, and over time, it may contribute to problems like anxiety or a sense of helplessness.

It's crazy how predators can sense trauma and vulnerability. Its like they can smell it
@joelmolinapalau68113 күн бұрын
I think there are behavioural patterns like unsupervised "freedom" or confusing deorientation of moral dilemmas and dangers, otherwise warnings that parents are suppossed to provide, and that builds into a somewhat excessive sense of trust, which would be leathal, especially when you are so young. For instance, I was taught since I can even start to remember, that you don´t talk to other adults alone you, especially adults, and that you walk away from them if they insist in talking to you. This "rule" actually saved my life when I was 8 years old as I believe I was a target to be kidnapped when a young girl started calling me from a car while I was on the swings outside my aunty´s, just like in the movies.
@maribel36203 күн бұрын
Do you think that is because it started with trauma and vulnerability for them? Meaning, that’s how they became predators?🤔
@HeartFeltGesture3 күн бұрын
Narcissistic demons, energy vampires, emotional vampires. Its real, its ancient.
@truthseeker22223 күн бұрын
Its actually not crazy at all. It makes perfect sense. Predators in the wild can smell and sense trauma/ vulnerability, why would humans be any different? We are natural predators.
@JasonSpielberg3 күн бұрын
It's usually pretty obvious. Most vulnerability comes down to basic stupidity, and people tend to have a very hard time hiding that, as they lack the intelligence to do so. More sophisticated people don't remain vulnerable for long, because we're able to identify our own flaws and deal with them accordingly.

I love this woman. Started following her on instagram during my own journey to healing. Never knew her story, she’s incredible and her resilience is inspiring. The part where she said I have my children full time no one has them but me I resonate with SO MUCH. “Tell me a story or two, before I let you go,” is something I want to say to her until she runs out of stories. I love her spirit, energy, and message. I love her delivery. I love her verve. I love her authenticity and frankness. I just really love her. Thanks for sharing your unreal story, Onami, and thanks for giving her the platform to do so, Mark. I am a very open-minded person but, in all honestly, if I passed Onami in the street before hearing her story, I probably would’ve made unfair snap judgments about her. Maybe because of the tattoos, maybe because of other less visible factors. After hearing her story, and learning about how resilient and intelligent and articulate and beautiful she is, I can’t believe I was so quick to make negative judgements. This is exactly why your videos are so important, they challenge our preconceived ideas and snap judgements even when we don’t know we need that challenge. Thanks again for all you do.
@PalinaZ2 күн бұрын
You don't need to learn more about other people to not be ok with yourself making negative judgements. You don't need to sympathize with ones story to know your limits of consciousness. There are soo many who grew up in deprivation of mature adults. That comes in many different shapes and always plasticizes a children's brain. Do not make negative judgements ever about things that have nothing to do with you. There are many people who won't even be able to name what has happened to them ever. Not everyone is capable of telling their story or two..

@ I was involved with the Rainbow family for the better part of a decade. While I was technically free to come and go, I lived with a core group of them, and had to go along with what the group decided. We ran a restaurant. We didn’t get pay, but I got to eat and a place to sleep on the floor. Once on the way to a gathering, the “elder” I was traveling with decided that I k and my younger sister) needed to put some money into the gas tank… knowing full well I didn’t make any money… so my sister and I got out of the van in the middle of the night ( while they were sleeping in the air conditioned hotel) and hitch hiked up to the gathering site. That ended my involvement with them. I wasn’t saying they were a proper “cult” I was implying they were a stepping stone in that direction, and I was glad to get away from them.

I dated a girl who survived this... You would never know it because appearance is really important for her, and of course she hasn't found ways to process and cope from all of this, but a lot of children did get explicitly raped by anyone in the church it was encouraged and the flirty fishing she referred to is trying to fuck people to get their money into the cult, and before the age of 16 for sure I have heard stories from 5,6,7,8,9 all ages being taught and encouraged to sexually abuse children and for the children to want it and like it...... She will never be alright and got pregnant at 16 and has had the hardest time being a mother because every guy since has just tried to use the same cult like ownership like control through using money that she needed for her kids to survive and even her kids being threatened to control her and she has like a hazy on her brain and won't notice being controlled until years later.... It's really sad because I tried to help but if you don't use controlling techniques and brainwashing and abusive control and manipulation tactics, and the people abusing her are willing to do any of those things, she will think the people helping her are bad and the people hurting her are good.... Until she wakes up every few years and realizes she's still being controlled and it's just really really sad.... Nobody wants to hear about these stories either... If you haven't been through it, it doesn't exist in your imagination of reality... I'm crying... And the way she sounds so un-bothered by most of the things she went through, it is her own ego pretending to make others feel comfortable and make others not judge her as somebody who needs help.... 😢
@badmuddafadda3 күн бұрын
You meant to say that she sounds so unbothered by these Terran’s traumatic experiences. You may be right. She does tell some stories that are shocking to those that never ran into this kind of evil when they were young. She probably has gotten a lot of positive reinforcement for coming off as a strong survivor that is thriving. I only wish her and her children well. There is a tendency for former cult members to end up in another cult even after breaking free fro the first one. (Ginny Thomas comes to mind.) She points to this fact when she admits that it affected how she dealt with Covid and the conspiracy theories. She does come across as a little bit try hard and a bit of artificial positivity. This just might be what she needs to do in order to relay the traumatic experiences to others. I’ve seen that before.

When she spoke of the broken telephone game, that is exactly how I have felt about all religion since I was about 10 years old. I was raised with the Methodist Church and most of my school friends were Catholic and Lutheran. I saw at that time that the Bible that we all followed did not exist till nearly 500 years after Christ. That is a really long “game” of telephone before it was actually written down. Once a person learns critical thinking skills you start to see why religion/cults and governments want for you to conform to their ideals and not your own. That is how they keep power over you.
@josch86942 күн бұрын
Well, not super religious here, but I'd like to point out that the texts were written earlier, it was not 500 years of hearsay. It was the decision on which texts are accepted as canon that happened later. The books of the new testament probably were written down at least partly in the first century AD. ~70AD for the gospel of Mark, I think. If that means it includes testimony of actual contemporaries if Jesus is debatable.
@sharondunn65139 сағат бұрын
there's a big difference between what the children of God does to people and how Lutheran or Methodist church operates. Actually, I think there is very little comparison.

The sooner people teach their children that the world revolves around Money #1 Sex #2 and drugs #3 and teach them that’s not what living or being alive revolves around but helping, showing people you love love. Being kind of a stranger and treating everyone how you want to be treated the much better that child will be prepared to go out in this world and not be taken advantage of, hurt and lied to by anyone. As of 2024 most parents are teaching they kids to want to be better then everyone else or push the parenting on others because they are to busy with social media or running around town and/or being a addict.

What a fascinating and powerfully intelligent young woman. I’m so terribly sorry she had to experience such prolonged and entrenched traumatic experiences at such a deeply formative young age. But hearing her story, told so incredibly eloquently, is a deeply powerful experience. I grew up from the 80s and my mother had previously been a social worker, and even in the north east of England she had worked with the victims of the Children of God. They are everywhere and it is terrifying. I’m so glad this wonderful person has escaped it. These people are truly cruel and evil, in the basest sense of those words. She deserves the best of life going forwards.

“If you can stop that pattern of consenting to sexual abuse” in which she includes children-insinuating the one finds themselves in repeated sexual abuse as a result of their lack of self respect is just terribly preverse.
@LolaHeiges2 күн бұрын
It sounds really weird to say but I think only when you've experienced it can you know what it feels like and I'm not sure about you or your experiences. I was sexually abused as a child and there's no shot I could have statistically been abused so many times in my life had I not been allowing people to sense my battered energy and I had to learn how to put up a field..
@rubytuesdayism2 күн бұрын
@@LolaHeigesfriend, I’m so sorry If one is consenting, it’s not abuse which is what I believe she wants to sell. However in this case it’s twisting the notion of consent. Sexual abuse occurs when we are subjected to sexual acts, activity and behaviors against our will and without consent. If one gives their consent, if a child is consenting to sexual penetration as an infant with their father, then her logic assumes this is not abuse. And I don’t believe that’s true. Firstly, anyone under 18 cannot give consent, does not welcome, allow, encourage, ask for or in any way participate freely in sex. And beyond that, no matter how many times, no matter the circumstance, we are not to touch another person sexual or otherwise without their explicit consent. Being a woman or human in the world is not an invitation to intimate touch, ever. Violating the sovereignty, the physical and spiritual autonomy of another person is wrong. End of story. Sending hugs your way. Statistically, your abuse is not your responsibility.
