My father was just like him. Died at 55 years old from a over dose last year. He was my best friend he also sold drugs his whole life and ended up doing prison time. This gentleman reminds me of my dad. Before he over dosed he was sober for nearly 9 months. He just used that once. That relapsed killed him. I pray for this man. God bless him.

Damn.. this might be the most compelling interview to date for me. Big fella is very transparent and self-aware. He didn't embellish or glamorize his former lifestyle. He's not ashamed of his current one. He's smart.. yet very flawed. The product of a hustler upbringing. I'm pleased Mark is giving the world a peek into how many "street people" are birthed. Many don't choose their environment. Their environment chooses them. Those brief periods of silence were masterful on Marks part. I think HE needed a minute to process how this street smart, philosophical man could be on skid row smoking crack in weed. Most Black men won't show themselves this vulnerable. Great interview!!

The other half is what he wants people like you to believe. This guy is your average crack head who has been able to get by barely! You say he is so smart yet if he was even a little bit smart he wouldmt be doing this interview on skid row, wearing dusty ass clothes smoking a crack laced joint. Is he a product of his environment ??? Im sure he is and i dont blame his childhood on him. But as a grown ass 50 yr old man there is no excuse for how hes living. So miss me with the b.s. in your comment.

I don't think you quite grasp what 'articulate' means. Our standards have plummeted if this is seen as fulfilling that definition. At this point, If someone doesn't respond to each question with "yeeeeh mannnn, shiiiiit....." they're automatically given the title of 'articulate' and 'smart' by certain people who don't know any better.

If you're talking about blacks, it might be true that most of you have had trauma. It's institutionalized. But whites? No, cold reality is that the most of us didn't. Many pretend to because they think it's cool. I envied the "normal" kids in my fully white school for having a family, good income and little to no problems growing up. i can respect a crack dealer that is smoking his own product, its a vicious cycle of that world, at least its not some chump reaping off of others misery. a majority of crack dealers actually have easy lives, they create problems for themselves yet manage to stay clean around the crack and smack they push, they just destroy their neighbourhoods and blame it on the governments, yet here we have a user who has been in this underworld for a life time. i have no respect for these dopey kids complaining about "ops" and acting like they were forced into that life, no one is really forced to do anything. i have friends that became crack addicts, i have friends that got clean from heroin, i seen that world and the biggest complainers actually have it the easiest. this man isn't complaining, he's just living the life he knows. yet we have idiots like jay z who just pillaged their neighbours and never really give back, not from what the damaged they caused.

I think that the biggest takeaway from your videos is to never underestimate people (the old adage to never judge a book by its cover). This gentleman is an exceptionally wise, highly intelligent, survivor whose path was clearly chosen without his having any say. If I were to happen upon him either chillin or workin, even though I tend not to make assumptions, my mind might draw some knee jerk subconscious conclusions. Granted, as adults we do have the power of choice but it is often far more complex to accomplish society's expectations than it is to stay on the road that has furnished survival. I could easily spend hours digesting his stories and wisdom. There is no question, however, that he expels pain and loneliness with his every word. Yet another incredible, mentally nourishing, interview from SWU. Thank you!

He's not walking in accordance to God's will. So sadly he Lord won't allow him to enter the kingdom. If indeed we love God, then we live according to his spoken written words n lean not on our own understanding but in all our ways acknowledge him. He also says we should put off the old man n put on the holiness of God. Plus he says, Yeshua/Jesus we are to not be of the world but be in the world. Plus Satan prowls the world seeking for those who live like this man. Sadly he still lives for Satan....n that my friend is far from the truth and karma is a 3rd world belief from that elephant looking female. Lord reminds us to not be an apostate, aka a liar. Living a life contrary to what ABBA desires for us. No 1 is holy not not 1. Sadly he talks like he knows scripture when Lord says his Children will even judge the angels. Plus he says judge not least you be judged. Lord never sad not to judge, he said DO NOT SIN!!!

I'm from the South Bronx. New York is so hard. This man reminds me of so many people from my neighbourhood that I saw growing up. Street life in New York is so specific. The rats in the barrel New York way because of how hard it is to live there, getting through the unforgiving winter, the hellish summers only people from these neighbourhoods understand. New York is hell on earth. I'm so blessed that I was able to get out because of my parents who made us use school as a way out. My Afro Cuban father and Afro Puerto Rican mother refused to allow us to be a victim of the streets.I left America and never looked back.

I'm grateful for being given a chance to listen to that. I hope Heavy knows that he's been given a chance to be honest with anyone who will listen without judging. He helped me tonight. He wasn't a broke hero, but maybe he can be a hero who broke the mold. HEAVY the hero. Listen to his rap now. His power is not a weight thing. He seems to have the power to teach if not to learn. Kryptonite. We ALL have ours.

That was a horrible interview because he lied so much haha those two rappers he mentioned didn't even do music till 1992 and 93 and in 84 one of them would have been a little kid so his 84 reference he's full of s***😂😂😂😂 so makes me wonder what else he's telling that sounded fake even the story he did a concert and they rip his clothes off no never heard of this guy he never even mentioned his name his rap name or his group because there is none and in 1984 there wasn't one like that in the Bay Area out there in California

I absolutely loved this! I've been watching SWU for quite some time now and this has got to be the best interview you have ever done. I would love to meet this man or see a second interview. I relate A LOT to what he says and what he's been through. It would be an honor to sit down with big heavy and talk. ❤
