He confronted him 1v1 outside his warehouse business in Texas and spoke to him, after he knew and saw him in the area trying to whack him. The fbi was not protecting him in that situation, and the men after him witnessed his family in the area, which is why he confronted them. He told a local hispanic drug dealer in the area that he "saw nothing" when the dope dealer was shooting at a robber-buyer days before, and gave the dealer his real name (afraid of nothing. Nobody was protecting him in the area at the time. You have no idea what you are talking about. This guy was granted immunity, and he consistently admits to murders he was never charged for, and ones he was charged for but not convicted. He has nothing to hide, and lived a wild-life, and was given a pass by the government to tell his entire story unfiltered. There's probably only a few thousand people like this who exist in the world. He happens to be alive to tell the story. Get your facts straight... if you think he is lying about everything, you're delusional... his track record/s prove it.

I grew up in NYC and worked in a club in the early eighties and so guys like this, make no mistake his code of ethics is real in terms of soldiers killing soldiers in the MOB. That said, it's hard to disagree with some of his logic and in the end I think he may have been a better boss than Gotti.

History has proven that Gotti's reign was disastrous. Even aside from bringing a ton of heat on everyone in that life because of his narcissism and big mouth, he put his son and older brother in charge of the Gambino family for many years who were both utter disasters as well. Remember, Gotti could've been given a life sentence for his crimes as boss, that would have been that, but his big mouth on all those tapes is what turned Sammy into an informant who put close to 40 guys away in prison in other cases, including testifying against Gigante who was the longtime boss of the Genovese family. Gotti did enormous damage to that life so obviously Sammy would have been a much more competent boss considering the FBI had thousands of hours of secretly recorded tapes on Sammy, but they didn't have one shred of evidence since Sammy did what he was supposed to do and kept his mouth shut.

I don't care about crime or violence. We lived in the old neighborhood Sicilian. I heard Italian in the neighborhood, the priest at church barely spoke English. I grew up saturated in the culture until I was 9. Then we moved to the rich neighborhood. I now realize Mama kept me with her people in a safe, protected, cocoon. I hear these guys talking, watching their mannerisms, I can see & hear the Italian. My family wasn't New York accent or Mob sounding, but still the culture comes through so strong. I miss my family now passed on. The old neighborhood is no longer the same. When I go back by remember the way it was.
