I remember it like it was yesterday, those poor girls. I have a young daughter, and I can't imagine what the parents went through. Still makes my blood boil thinking about the perpetrator, I would 100% support capital punishment for cases like this.

I lived nearby in the 90s and the cathedral was known as the isle of ely due to it being surrounded by water full of eels in medieval times. Time team made a great programme about the city 30 years ago . You might be disappointed if you visit on a sunday as all the shops are closed ! If you get the opportunity come to the south norfolk town of wymondham, pronounced windum, we have a great abbey and an old market square and also a combined police and fire hq just on the edge of town, definitely worth a visit.

My grandparents lived in the manor house and I'm privileged it was such a big part of my childhood. When my grandma died in 2011 they sold the house to a couple of interior designers, who apparently did a stunning job with it. Sadly one of them, Peter Leonard, recently died... On another note, I went to my cousin's 10th birthday party, a barn dance, where Holly and Jessica were both there. Weird having these connections to Soham.

I used to work in a canning factory in Soham, 1978 when I left school and lived in Bury, near Ramsey. A long mini van journey! I cannot forget the ethereal image of Ely catherdral in the distance; the ship of the fens.

One of my favourite cathedrals, founded I believe by St Etheldreda-long before the present cathedral was built. Loved it when I visited, I could hear the choir practising, from the local school I believe. Isle of Ely also connected with the story of Hereward The Wake.

Great film Charlie, I remember this so well, it's incredible to me that the killer's already served more than half his minimum sentence. I was 9 at the time & live in Suffolk near to Mildenhall which in itself isn’t far from Soham, it’s 30 min drive, I was terrified my friend slightly older than me was another factor that scared me I was blonde she was dark haired so it felt like a personal attack or like that could be us, I felt like ‘is there a murderer on the loose and will they find us to pick on’ kind of thoughts in my head, went to the Mildenhall stadium to watch banger racing after this happened (this was so close to the area closer than from where I live) & I was just on high alert the entire time. A few years later Dawn Walker was murdered only 5 mins away from my home. I didnt feel safe after that. Then the prostitue murders in Ipswich. I mean even Myra Hindley died in the same hospital I was born in this was just after the Soham murders. A busy 2000’s for horrible stuff, I wish the news was never on in my house as I could’ve done without added anxiety in childhood. There would’ve been them headline A board style things but that would’ve been it
