There are few scientists that can be said to have touched the public imagination. Physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking is one such scientist. Professor Hawking video links in while his daughter Lucy and physicist Paul Davies join us live.

Absolutely brilliant. It is scarily amazing how technology just keeps getting better and better. I love the idea that someone like Stephen Hawking can reach out and touch people in this way whilst allowing him his joy of being part of the future. I also love the fact he has a great sense of humour. Well done Cisco for bringing this innovation, lets see where it goes.

Go Bogies Go Actually if you read about him, you should know that he was actually offered a knighthood but he declined the honour probably because of him wanting to protest against the UK's fallen funding for science.

I am on the wheelchair too. And sometimes I lose my mind because of it. ...Steven is my hero. If I see what a man can do with one finger and a brain...If he gave up in his 20, everybody would understand. A horrible diagnosis. But he worked even more. For an atheist like me it is a reall miracle. If I was in his place I would probably give up, drunk hardly and died in few months. That's the real eternal life. Steven will be alive forever because he chenged the world.

when I see this great man with all the battles against his mortal being it renders me internally despondent but also unmistakably thankful for my blessings. I want to feel, live and fight for every moment of life .I can live beyond what limitations I've bestowed upon myself and anything less would be such a waste when a man like Steven Hawkins pursued and gave his all for mankind. well done, well done Sir Hawkins

Such elegant thoughts from someone who suffered physically so much. Much respect to you. I saw the movie "The Theory of Everything" and if his first wife (Jane) in real life was anything close to how she was in the movie then that explains why he was so successful in life having kids and feeling that he lived a full life. He battled a terminal disease and beat it, he had a wife, kids, a career, success in his field of study. Much respect you. One lesson I have learned from you is to make the best of the situation you are in and to never give up.

Amaizing Stephen, i have so many question ........ about us, about what we dont know, i feel so happy and sad at the same time. Specially about human race, but hey, like you say, never give up, when there is life there is hope. Just hope one day we realice what we are doing to planet earth, and to every living thing on it.. specially to each other ... And do something about it, so we may have more then 1000 years to go ...... Still ... i always look up .... to the stars ...... and wonder .....

its all prerecorded. it wasnt a live hologram. also FYI the point of using a hologram goes lost unless the object is viewed 3 dimensonally. In this case it was watched only from the front, rendering it objectively similar to a regular 2d video recording showed on a television.

If u ask me we are already living in Art official intelligence its known to us as the Universe and evolution is not a continuous thing, every thing that has a beginning has an end therefore disproving evolution and demanding a devine creator not a copy cat. We humans are our worst enemy because of greed and hate, we live and then die life is already what it supposed to be those that want to make life perfect are the enemy of humanity because perfection leaves no room for the existence/experience of life. Dont get me wrong i do believe in bettering our existence here on earth but perfection is not possible for our biological lives we were created equal not the same, their is no one size fits all meaning perfection is not possible nor needed for human advancement in the universe

What the human race needs right now isn't more problem solving and tail chasing. Our salvation does not lie in the stars, but within ourselves. We have to wake up to our true nature as beings continuous with the infinite and eternal source of this universe and supersede our addiction to being futile egos trapped within the fiction of time. You ARE this universe. And its nature is an infinite, eternal dance of total joy and delight. WAKE UP from your obsession with your mind and you will realise this truth.
