@@TeaTimeWithTravis I am sure I saw that since I don't miss a one of your uploads, just forgot. However. 'Everyone' and the 'Begin Again' performances are amazing. On 'Begin Again', it is her and a group of other popular singers putting on impromptu, acoustic, busking concerts to lift the spirits of the Korean people. Her rendition of the Whitney classic 'I will Always Love You' is simply stunning. Wait until you hear the "sax" solo. The sparse imstrumentation and stripped-down nature of the arrangements presents a whole other side of her vocal control and emotive prowess. They are much more delicate and intimate.

This was from Immortal Songs 2 Micheal Bolton Special. All the artists arranged his songs/covers. "So Hyang" two syllables, there is no "hi" sound in her name. Checking, you have reacted to most of her huge numbers except for "Everyone" which is said to be her hardest and longest song. This was another from Immortal Songs 2.

And several Koreans got on my case for pronouncing it So Young. So, that is the sum total of my knowledge. I can only go by how Koreans themselves say how to pronounce it. 🤷‍♂️

Lean on Me was released in 1972 by Bill Withers and is actually the more popular version Michael Bolton only did a cover as So Hyang is doing in this performance .. only us super old folks realize these things that a simple Google search in 5 seconds can explain .. same mistake is made with I Will Always Love You .. not Whitneys song originally a Billboard topper in the mid 1970s written composed and sung by country music legend Dolly Parton .. Whitney got the song from singing it in the Soundtrack of the movie The Bodygaurd which she starred in.

And considering that you are a foreigner even in the ears of picky Koreans, it is fully understandable, but it is not accurate. Since there is only one way to pronounce each Korean spelling, I think it would be better to pronounce it correctly. First syllable of her name 'So' is no problem at all. The English sound is perfectly same to that of Korean. But it takes some practice to prounce the second syllable of her name 'Hyang'. First, pronounce 'yang' as in 'yankee'. And start pronunciation by adding 'H' sound to it. As a result, you will breathe out a little more than pronouncing 'yang', and that will be the correct pronunciation.
