7:45 look at those crazy commuters just low key hopping off a moving train! How times have changed!

It's how things were done back then, people just got on with it. There was over 150 years of history of doing it this way!

I used to work the 117s on the Fife Circle.

I hope this brings back some happy memories.....or maybe not, sitting on a freezing cold one straight off depot at 05.30 in the morning, more like nightmares!!!!

Yes, DMU's had a great sound about them, and good fun to ride on especially if the driver had his blinds down!

Nice vid sir, only 37156 lol! Tis why i didnt bother venturing north of the border really, after ED shut in 1992. Knew they'd all flock south eventually!

I was after the semaphores primarily and just filmed whatever was about to get them in shot and better still working on film. Any locos in Scotland were worth filming after the late 80s as there were so few left doing anything! I do have vids with freight & loco action but there are always more passenger workings, mostly units.

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus Excellent, cant wait. Indeed, you captured much in your vids, one viewing is not enough! Wish i had made the effort to go over the border in 80's.. . .

@@djtrainspotter I worked on the Underground at the time and had a Priv card for rail travel which helped! Looking through my vids when sorting out what to uploads i amazed how many places i did get to!

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus Yes great! Your vids are most informative and the icing on the cake is your zooming into the coach numbers aswell, although i noticed a lack of that in this vid, possibly mind numbed by the 158 ride eh lol! . . Interesting, so you went to BR after LU sir?

@@djtrainspotter DOO on deep tubes is no fun, plus my father was on the job in clerical but managed to find a way to get me on the job. There were two unadvertised vacancies in the 8 week Trainmens link at Ilford Car Sheds, they were not planning to fill them but i and an Traction Inspectors son got both the vacant lines! I kept forgetting the Scotrail units were marked differently, the end of the coach on these 117s has a Scotrail name rather than the number i was expecting!

Didnt know those Reading sets ended up in Scotland. Another good video.🤗
@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus5 жыл бұрын
I can't remember if they were Reading sets or others from around the country scrapped together to form some good units.
@chris-io1ki5 жыл бұрын
@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus Defo ex Reading ones but may be reformed. Reading had most of the 117s originally with a handful at Brustol Bath Rd and Cardiff Canton. Some also strayed as far as Laira as well I think. They usually carried set numbers too. Love the old DMU's. Do you have any old footage at Cardiff Central?

@@chris-io1ki Well, there is an earlier upload here kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIe3Z6JnpMZ0ns0, from 1988 and there are other bits & pieces which i will upload over time.

good days out bouncing on the seats of 117s and the rest of the first gen units, beats the plastics seats of most of the trains that are in service.
@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus5 жыл бұрын
Yes, definatly a much better ride and seat comfort on the old units. A class 700 is absolute sh**e to ride on!
