Rayon, Great site and interesting follow up. I have two questions if you have a moment, please? First can the system be used as a purely off grid system without any mains connection at all that is just left turned on at a set temperature and it will look after itself? Second is there a limit to the number of pv panels that can be used on a system operating completely off grid?

Appreciate it, thanks for the luv and the time taken to share. For your questions: 1. These units need at least 100V dc, therefore panels will need to be producing this amount or more while the sun is out. In our setup, there's usually a breaker for the grid power and it can be kept in the off position. While this is so, whenever the sun goes down, the AC unit will go into sleep mode until sunrise and then the panels will start to provide power once again. 2. There's a 48v version that uses batteries. 3. As mentioned in 1. the units need at least 100V DC, however max voltage is 380V DC. Make a note of the VOC for the panels you are using and that will give an idea of how many panels you can use. i.e. If VOC is 47V then 380v÷47v ≈ 8 panels max. Its always good to have the units protected using the right DC Fuse and surge protectors.
