After months of planning and years of research, it was the greatest feeling in the world to start using renewable energy in my home. In this video I break down the cost of my 10KW solar setup, share more details about solar inverters and take you through the whole process as promised in part one of this series.

You have literally made a large aeroplane wing. It should be closest to the floor and there should be many gaps between panels so the wind seeps through between panels. That way it won’t put too much pressure on structures and panels.

I am presently staying in Malaysia where most house roof tops have a frame and tiles on them which do get damaged and blown off due to strong winds and thunderstorms. I feel your whole strucure has a large surface area like aeroplane wing and is vulnerable to extreme weather. my 2 cents.

Setup cost for '20 kwh' system (with net metering, i.e., no batteries) shared in comment replies by @Samina Anjum. (The per watt cost of panels may have gone up but that is one component in overall setup). Here is her comment, "Few months ago,we went to a solar company for installation of 20kwh system but they asked 18-20 lac for it.. Then someone suggested us to buy these components my your own. @@iqtadarhaider Installation companies may not be "looting" you exactly. They have lots and lots of cost to cover. There is a cost of running business, paying employees, paying taxes, putting a value put to their time and make some profit to take home. This is how economy runs. Money should be circulated. So instead of defaming the installation companies by calling them looters, you can perhaps say, "Talk to your installer and see if they are open to negotiate on the installation price".

Very well made video. Really liked the cost breakdown of the entire solar setup. Only thing that I would like to add is that maybe if you can also discuss the timeframe of the whole installation of solar panels. As in like from the moment you decided to have solar panels to the moment that they were finally installed. How long each step took. Maybe you could include this in the future video.

Good idea Husnain! Honestly it varies from installer to installer but my set up took around 2 months. That’s because there were multiple vendors and I had other construction going on at the same time.

Very impressive! How long do the batteries last once fully charged? Assuming there's no grid power after sunset, can the system provide electricity (moderate- heavy use) till next day, when the sun is back up again and recharging the batteries?
