Home made solar Shower. Adds a nice touch after a few days of traveling or just sitting around baking when out overlanding. Easy to refill cheap to heat as long as you have sun.

You should not mount these side to side, but going front to back. When it's not full, the water will slosh around and cause dynamic weight to shift to the sides of the car which is dangerous as each gallon of water weighs 8.xx lbs. If you have a 4 gallon pipe, you're looking at 40 lbs moving to the left and right of the car when you turn.

PancakePlease I would agree if the water was more than the 10L of which would not fit side ways in our application. We rarely had water left in it when we used it for showering. We have since sold this vehicle and have extended this same solar shower by another 10L and it does now run front to back on our new vehicle.

You can say the same thing for a Big Gulp in the cup holder but The effects are negligible. Geeze!

I think there is more weight sloshing around in his gas tank.

You need a screw on blanking cap to screw onto the tap/outlet so people can't turn it on to empty it

Kickstands Up! Worked out great never had a problem but I sold it last year due to changing my rig and set up. We went back to a jerry can as we have hot water on demand on the Off road trailer.

Great, detailed explanation.. A thing I still don't understand completely is the thing with the pressure. How much is enough and how often (?) would you need to repressurize the thing? Is it possible to maintain with a bike pump for example?
@TheSASurvival4 жыл бұрын
JakobCB when it gets hot there will be a bit of pressure to to the temp increase, but it will disappear quickly when you pull the shower trigger. You could use a bike pump, but when the pressure drops you might want a faster refill of air depending where you are at in your shower. You do really need to have pressure as it makes the shower work more effectively. I hope this helps.

You will definitely need a shower after pressurizing it with a bike pump. I leave the compressor connected. I take my shower, then charge it back up for my girlfriend. The first charge may not last that long because the tank is full of mostly water and little compressed air. The 2nd charge will last much longer. You just have to play around with it and find your sweet spot.

Hi there. Good simple design. Where can these pipe materials be bought? I am talking about the black plastic. Thanks

Nice job. I reckon spray it Matt black.

Could you put that pressure valve on the same side as the water hose..
@TheSASurvival5 жыл бұрын
I guess you can, i was probably thinking when i built it to have the pressure push the water out of the hose, but now i think about it pressure is pressure and it will push the water out of any outlet that is open. That would save you having to move to the compressor to re pressurize the tube while you are showering.

Excellent video just one question : How much PSI pressure if the pipe is 6 feet long.
@TheSASurvival4 жыл бұрын
Tito r pressure should be the same no matter what size of tube. The pressure will drop off as you use the water. I start 15PSI, don’t go too high otherwise it might blow the seal on the refill cap. When full the pressure will drop off quickly and you will have to re-pressurize often so keep the pump close.

I almost made one these, but ended up going with an onboard water system and tankless propane camping shower instead. Reason being, When I want a warm shower, its usually chilly outside so Im not sure how well your setup will keep the water warm if its cloudy and the outside temp is 40F?
@TheSASurvival6 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, warm days does not get it hot. I use it 2 fold now, when we are out in the Oassis 1 i use the solar shower as a water storage for the shower that feeds my hot water on demand on the trailer, if the solar shower is hot then I use it as is, if it is cooler day then I run a hose to the hot water on demand and it works great, just refill the solar shower at a clean water source weather it is for emergency vehicle water, dishes or shower, not potable though.

No pressure ?
@TheSASurvival5 жыл бұрын
Alfonso Casillas Not sure, what the comment is, but you need the compressor to add pressure as the heated pressure will be gone not long after you pull the spray trigger.
