Excellent build... Many thanks... You really are a master. For those who are not wood workers, the brad point drill bits cut extremely cleanly by first centering the bit with the center point and then cutting the outside diameter with spurs... The cut then moves inward to remove the wood. Normal metal twist bits cut from the center toward the outside... This gives a fluffy cut where the bit is cutting into the grain of the wood. Then for those of you, who, like myself, do not want to be exposed to molten lead fumes, I mix small diameter lead shot (from shotgun reloading supplies) with epoxy and thus fill my ballast holes without losing my mind.

For the wooden mold for led , did you drill the holes first or did you cut the wood in half first? I’m going to try it . Does the type of wood matter? Any type of sealant for it? Sorry for asking too many questions but I really liked that.
@SolarfallBaits3 жыл бұрын
The wood for the lead mold was cut first then i just clamped them together and drilled the casting cavity. You want to use hard woods for this purpose the softer types burn unusable pretty fast.

Hi, Mikko. I LOVED the surprise Finnish intro-no matter what you were saying. (Given your sense of humor, I shudder to think.). But the big, gorgeous "walk-the-dog" surface darter was even better. This type of lure-whether a factory Zara Spook or a handmade version-is my go-to choice for locating striped bass in the coastal waters where I fish. Speaking of salt water, is there any chance you would consider putting on your list of future "builds" an 18-23cm, three-segment, lipless, hard-body swimbait/wakebait that would run at or just below the surface, raising significant V waves on top? My choice would be an Atlantic herring for its relatively slim profile and, especially, its universal appeal to EVERY saltwater prey species (and many freshwater species, too). I'm working on such a lure in my shop now, but I know it will never come close to what you could produce. I've said it a dozen times before, but your skills continue to set the standard for lure-makers everywhere, including me, and I'm grateful for that.

For screw eyes in soft wood, it doesn't matter as much about the hardness, as it does the tensile strength of the wood. The tensile strength is what keeps the screw eye in if you glue it correctly.

What do you think about forstener bits? I used to use brad point bit i find forstener is much better, especially when drilling big, deep holes (such as for making rattle chambers) as the brad point bit flutes clog up with wood. Forstener doesn't have that problem. I also find they make way cleaner holes than brad point. Is there a reason you use brad point?

I've had other BPM baits kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!
