It is also the closest star to our solar system. The three stars above are part of the Alpha Centauri system which is a triple star system. 4:Arcturus, A red giant star and the fourth brightest star in our night sky.

The thing I always have to say to my students is that the Big Bang was NOT an explosion. It was an expansion that is still ongoing today. Also I will absolutely be showing this to my students when we get to the Big Bang from now on.

Hey, that’s so cool to hear. As a correction, we do refer to it two times as an explosion, but the first is when Astrodude is simplifying the story by saying “just imagine this huge explosion” and the second was when he said “this wasn’t just some action movie explosion.” We didn’t want to complicate things to much by adding a concept some young people may not understand like implosions, so we use ‘explosion’ but always in the vein of Astrodude simplifying it. Also, your students are very lucky to have you as their teacher. Tell them I say hi! 👋
