This is my first effort with a video editor. It's not much to look at :) but it does include the complete audio of the piece. This is "Solas Ane (Yesterday's Joy)" composed by Samuel R. Hazo and performed by an unidentified professional concert band.
The audio is from the Hal Leonard website. The two (yes only two - it's my first made-from-bits video :) images are from Sam Hazo's website. I put the clip together using OpenShot editor on Debian Linux.

My high school symphonic had prepared this piece for the end-of-year concert, and our longtime band director died unexpectedly a few weeks before we were set to perform. He was beloved by the students and staff, and it seemed so impossible to replace him, but we at least had an adjunct to oversee us rehearsing. We ended up dedicating our performance to our late director and his family with an open conductor’s stand, empty. I hope he enjoyed the sound of us working hard to perfect it in his memory. I still can’t listen to it fully without crying a little. Here’s to you, Mr. Looman 🎼

It was written for a conductor who was leaving the band she had been with for quite a while. That's why it's called Yesterday's Joy. It's kind of saying "remember all those good times, because this is goodbye".

We played this as our last piece at my final band concert my senior year. It was dedicated to all of us leaving and the joy of our past four years. Half of the seniors couldn’t play the entire thing because we were in tears. This piece will always hold a special place in my heart.

I remember playing this as a first chair flute player in high school. They had me play the piccolo and I was so intimidated of being heard but the piccolo is like one of the main aspects of this song 🤣 I still tear up when I hear this song today. It holds as nostalgic place in my heart.

Junior year played it and made band captain, district and state and parish honor band. Senior year played and made and made drum major, parish, district, & state honor band. Played for college and got accepted on the spot with scholarship. Yay me!!!

My high school's top band plays this piece for our final concert every year, and throughout it, every senior gets up and walks off stage leaving just the next year's ensemble. I'm a senior, and earlier this year we lost our bassoon player, a very good friend of mine since middle school, to suicide. His younger brother is going to fill in for him and as if this song didnt make me sob every time already, i know i will be a mess this time. I miss you Dani❤🎶

How high does the first clarinet part go? We're playing this for band but I haven't gotten my part yet... The highest note I've ever had to play on clarinet is a G- the 3rd one, the one that's super screechy 😂 (it comes after the high C with only one finger, the thumb covering the high register key and the little key beside it on the underside of the clarinet lol)

the thing I love about Sam hazo is everything. I did an honor winds program last year and he was the guest conductor. he was so much fun to learn from. his eyebrows control the volume. the higher they are the louder you play. but he is a good human. I need so ibuprofen and learned this on break but forgot. so he remembers this in the middle of a song. so he stops pulls out pills and everyone is confused why a man we met the day before is stopping practice to give a child drugs. it was truly remarkable
