-I propose a bargain, i answer your question if you answer mine -what? -you are an idiot, that's what. My turn.... They really revised the lore a lot. In the inquisition Solas was against killing the archdemons, ridiculing the notion that killing one somehow saves the world though he did admit that it would "buy people time". In the Trespasser DLC you can discover Murals that depicts various elven gods bound by 7 seals, 4 of which are greyed out while 3 of them are still active. One for each archdemon(remember Morrigan managed to preserve the soul of the 5th archdemon in her child and Solas later would retrieve it). Archdemons were ancient spirits though their true nature was undiscovered Solas considered murdering them an act of unspeakable sacrilege. And it was implied that each one of them served originally as locks. It was implied that it wasn't the dragons that Tevinter mages heard but the Evanuris themselves. They baited those mages to breach the veil and enter the prison(that they thought was a gold city) if only for a moment but that was enough to release a blight into the world. Blight that would command darkspawn one and only thing....look for dragons, corrupt them as that would destroy the seals and allow Evanuris to go free. Now they are reduced to weapons and no longer Solas sounds sorrowfull at the mention of their demise. How can Gaider defend this writing? These people destroyed his world. Please read "A detailed analysis of the Trespasser murals, with supporting evidence | Part One" a great read if you are DA lore fan...as i used to be.

I do recall Solas in Inquistion saying that there is nothing connecting old gods with his people so now it is connected?
@TheAns51Ай бұрын
All i remember on is this: " Cassandra: Solas, the dragon Corypheus commands - could it truly be an Archdemon? Solas: One assumes that if it were, we would be facing a Blight. Cassandra: So what is it, then? A corrupted dragon, simply another darkspawn? Solas: It is connected to Corypheus. Such a relation goes beyond mere control - it is a bond. Cassandra: It makes you wonder if that's all the Archdemons themselves are: pets to beings who no longer exist. Solas: I would not go as far as that. This dragon is a replica, spawned from a creature who aspires to greatness. No more." Solas could be lying or just holding vital information. Too much information that is true could have revealed him being something more than just a mage who spends a lot of time in the fade talking with spirits. Also he could be meaning that archdemons aren't just "pets to beings who no longer exist" but much more and shares more than just a bond with their elven masters.
@NATIK001Ай бұрын
Inquisition left the question open, especially considering since Solas has never been a reliable source of information. Even if you totally trust Solas though, he only spoke in vague hints about this, he did not come straight out to confirm anything in either direction. It was heavily hinted that the Evanuris, Old Gods and Archdemons were linked in some way through many sources, but the link was never confirmed nor what type of link it is. I still don't trust Solas as he is a very biased part of the whole conflict and has been from the start. However he does have the knowledge of how it all fits together, he just cannot be trusted to give information unless it helps him directly.
@BelieveIt1051Ай бұрын
He said nothing in the elven legends connect the old gods to his people. A lie by omission. The real problem is with Solas' aversion to the Wardens killing the old gods before they can awaken. If they are tied to the remaining evanuris, and they are their weapons he forgot about, then he should have been completely on board with their plan, thinking it would serve his own goals, especially if that meant weakening the veil's power source.

@@BelieveIt1051 I think his issue with killing the Archdemons is that it will also kill the corresponding Elven God hence why we see only 2 of them escaping and why it was necessary to bind Solas to the Veil like they were after killing the two who escaped. No, since the Forgotten Ones were three, while the old gods were seven. But this should have gone the route of the old gods being more powerful than the evanuris, and rivals or sources of power for them to contend with. Not tools to be easily enthralled.
@TheAns51Ай бұрын
How does this contradict that? The forgotten ones were "bad" elven gods. Their war with "good" elven gods was a kinda civil war. They took the forms of dragons and could be seen as old gods to mortals and normal elves and as dragons were old creatures even then which were powerful and intelligent. They could also have been used by titans against "good" elven gods which led to titans vs evanuris war which led titans being "killed" and made tranquil which led titans memories to become mad and corrupt without mean to enter their bodies thus the blight was created. Victorious "good" evanuris discovered this blight and started to use it for their own means thus corrupting themselfs at first and then spreading it by taint. For all we know, those "old gods" the forgotten ones were already corrupted by titans by other means, for elven (spirits) using their blood (lyrium) to craft bodies for themselfs and thus some of those elven "gods" became warring and crazy. This way "good" evanuris could control and be linked to "old gods" as a way to subjugate them because they all were corrupted but "good" evanuris had learn to somewhat control and use the blight. Solas didn't know of this connection as he himself wasn't a true part of the evanuris, even tho he was somewhat influential through Mythal. Thus evanuris trapped in fade (black city) were able to control "old gods" trapped in underground (deep roads) once link with taint has been made and after tevinter magisters were able to break into a black city but unable to release evanuris caged there. Imo it makes perfect sense and nothing has been drainded down but expanded.

@BelieveIt1051Ай бұрын
The evanuris linked to those archdemons are dead. The Darkspawn Magisters are not, as we saw Corypheus was still alive despite Dumat being dead. The Architect was alive after Urthemiel could be slain. The Architect likely dies in Awakening unless the Warden sided with him. What happened to Urthemiel's soul in a Dark Ritual worldstate is unknown, or even if that soul is really one of the evanuris or not, like June's for example.
@NATIK001Ай бұрын
The High Dragons/Archdemons are tools, not the gods themselves. Solas is basically saying that by leaving the High Dragons alive and sleeping in their prisons, he left a backdoor open to the Evanuris prison, allowing them to influence the world even while locked away. If what he says holds then any god not tied to a living dragon would be left locked in the fade without a backdoor to slip out of. This doesn't mean they can't be let out again, but they cannot release themselves without a High Dragon tied to them. Piecing things together suggests that when the Warden's kill an Archdemon they disrupt its ability to reform after death, but that doesn't mean the spirit is gone/god is dead, just that it can no longer reform. Essentially any god that had a High Dragon turn Archdemon and die is just as locked up as if they never had a High Dragon in the first place. Overall my reading is that the gods will continue trying to escape the Fade even after all the Archdemons are dead, because all they lost were some tools they had tried to use to pry open their prison's locks. The cosmology of Dragon Age suggests that one should not expect something like the Evanuris to truly die, probably not even something like the Magister's Sidereal, I would expect their spirits to always exist in some form in the Fade with their ability to manifest and to influence things dependent on the various factors, but never quite gone. If you are versed in Tolkien's mythology then I would liken it to how defeated and banished fallen Ainur always exist in some form trying to manifest in Arda once again, but each defeat leaves them weaker than they were before. Killing members of the Evanuris in the physical world is likely to set them back far more than killing their Archdemons or locking them behind the Veil ever did, but I wouldn't count on it killing them for good given how the Fade and physical worlds are linked.
