I don't understand why people don't install power breaks when they restore a car. It's the easiest upgrade to do

Not needed... adds weight... hurts reliability... hurts originality... was considered undesirable in 1960's...
@lost_in_crazyland975 жыл бұрын
@@BuzzLOLOL you've got to be kidding me? Booster weighs 3 lbs and does not affect stability. I am 59 yrs old. I built and raced muscle cars on the streets for 15 years with more wins than losses. We raced title for title so I understand lightening the load. We done that by removing the back seat, fiberglass hood and so forth. All my cars had power breaks and if you look at the build sheet for a true 67 SS they came with power breaks. Once again this car is a clone, nothing more than a Malibu with SS trim. Still a pretty car...

@@GlassTopRX7 say what? How old are you guys?
@GlassTopRX75 жыл бұрын
Clearly old enough to know that you don't need GM squishy power brakes with drums. They don't take much effort and power brakes wont help it stop any faster. Plus without them no issue with running an aggressive cam if that's your thing. Adding power steering is worth it but not power brakes with drums. Lastly no one is claiming this is an SS, just has the SS hood. @@lost_in_crazyland97

64-65 Malibu SS badging....Fact.. all 1966 and 1967 SS Chevelle's were big block cars. 99.999% 396 cu.in. (actually 402 cu. in.) with a very few C.O.P.O 427's produced. Emission controls had a breaking point @ 400 cu. in. so a 402 was installed with 396 badging. Just a cat and mouse game with the EPA. Still not a bad cruiser ….Can't build it for that price!
@GlassTopRX75 жыл бұрын
The 402 didn't happen until 70'. They were all SS 396's up to 70' when the also made SS454's and SS396's which were actually 402's. Prior to 66' the SS was just a trim option. The Z16 was the proto SS396 and the only time Chevy combined the rectangle port heads with a hydraulic cam. A 402 is nothing but a 396 .030 over the exact reason isn't known as far as I know. It made no meaning performance differences. I've heard some say it started with a manufacturing defect and they just rolled with it. Emissions had nothing to do with the displacement at all. The displacement was a GM corporate decision. In Chevy's case they limited the 427 to Corvettes and Full size cars until 69' when they allowed the COPO process to order non fleet purchases. They still refused to allow the 427 in Nova's so all those cars are dealer conversion. Interesting enough the Hurst Olds 442 started using the the 455 in 68', not sure how GM reconciled that.

Hey Nick, I may start saving my pennies for a Chevelle like this one...the drivetrain, color, interior and stance is just what I would want. I have a beautiful 70 Chevelle, w/ 4-wheel discs, 454, other goodies, special Foose wheels, but need to get it back on the road...I’m always drawn to the body style and simple dash configuration of the 66-67 Chevelle. Keep the cars coming at us? Be well.

This isn't a SS. At most on a good day 15k. Wrong badge, weather strips are gone, hood full of rust that was covered up and list goes on. I own a 67 SS and what I see in this video is not a SS. I understand what your doing but selling people clones is just wrong. FYI learn how to decode a vin or build sheet and price accordingly.

If it were such a great deal he would not have to try to market this on youtube... you are new to this. I'm guessing value is more about 12-15k
@rogermurph1015 жыл бұрын
James Barrick not really. There’s only so big of a local market for classic cars. Just about every classic car dealer puts videos on KZbin. A large portion of sales go to out of town buyers.

James Barrick ,Sorry but you do NOT, know what your talking about, I have one ,and have restored many cars, if you think this is expensive check e-bay, Vangaurd moters ,ect.
@jamesbarrick34035 жыл бұрын
@@clinteast7476 My point this is a rebadged Malibu with wrong motor, nothing matching and likely swiss cheese body panels. So knowing all of that you think this is worth 20k or more? I do not. If it sells at that price I'm wrong but I would guess actual value closer to 12k to 15k... this is not a Chevelle SS. BTW I do love this body style and 67 is my birth year so I love it more... I just have a feeling all of the hidden crap you might expect is likely there since the guy doing the video did not mention anything otherwise and you and I both know that if the body panels are all metal and in great condition of course you make a point of it (he did not) and you also call out matching numbers or actual real SS (he did none of this). Even it it were swiss cheese reall Chevelle SS I agree value would be higher than asking price, bit it is not.
