There was huge surprise for two teenagers on Wednesday when their dad, who was deployed with the Air Force in Kuwait, came home earlier than expected; KDKA's David Highfield reports.

It's bad enough to see the daughters cry but it's even more touching when the son give the reaction this boy gave. So happy for them.

I love watching these stories and seeing how their classmates react. Some, like the girl in the background get so emotional as well as the son or daughter being surprised.

I always love seeing our military reunited with their families, it honestly does bring a tear to my eye every time. I sincerely appreciate EVERYONE in our military who makes the sacrifice to be away from family defend our country, and especially those who have been injured, or given the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit. They deserve our support in EVERY way. ❤🙏

My dad just passed in August of this year and he was a Vietnam vet. And that family said that they were helping families of active or past vets and there families. So where where were those guys when my dad passed and I had to do everything myself

Karma, I guess that I'm in the minority that doesn't like this sort of video. It's not that it's great that their father is home and all. It's just that I absolutely HATE surprises. And I'd doubly hate this if it was done to me in public. My family knows that I hate surprises and surprise parties, and wouldn't do it to me. But there's always some jerk that will do it to you no matter how much you profess your hatred for surprises, because they refuse to accept that anyone can hate being surprised.

For the military, six months is an overnight camp out. Try being away from family of 2-3 years! Some even longer! One little girl didn't even recognize her dad being gone four years AT ONCE! The second time was shorter and she flew into his arms! I just don't understand how so many get to come home in a year or less while others have to go so much longer without seeing their families who worry every day if they will ever see their soldiers again, and many DON'T, except for in a box!

Soldier is the generic term for a member of the military. The USA is one of the few countries that insists on using a different term for the members of each military service. In fact, a lot of countries have only one service, with ground, sea, and air branches.
