Now available online! www.lafilledelamer.com A solid dish cake to replace that plastic bottle of liquid detergent in your kitchen! Learn how to make the famous « Cake Vaisselle » with me and help the planet by reducing your ecological footprint! One single jar of Solid Dish Cake can last for months, reducing the use of disposable plastic bottles! The "cake vaisselle" concept came from Europe, but was most likely inspired by South America's Concentrated Dishwashing Pastes! In this video, I am presenting my version of this wonderful and eco friendly product.
If you use these formulas, please give credit where it is due. Peace.
The recipe no.1 for 3 jars of 250 grams (SCI is milder and creates a bit less bubbles but still washes very well):
550 grams of Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI)
148 grams of distilled water
48 grams of white vinegar
65 grams of sodium carbonate
5 grams lemon essential oil
2.5 grams tea tree essential oil
Variation no.2 for 3 jars of 250 grams (SCS tends to create a bit more bubbles):
250 grams Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate
300 grams Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS)
140 grams distilled water
73 grams white vinegar
65 grams sodium carbonate
5 grams of mandarin essential oil
2.5 grams lavender essential oil
You can find the SCI and SCS from www.windypointsoap.com/
Most of other supplies can be found at the grocery store.

Wasn’t sure how you use it, do you just take a little hunk out and put it in water? If so about how much?
@ArianeArsenault

Reflexology52 Welsh you simply take a wet sponge or scrubby and rub it on top of the “cake” and then use it to clean! 🧼

You can use it that way as well. There’s really no wrong way to use it. Whatever way you clean your dishes you can substitute the dish soap for this solid dish soap except in this dishwasher this isn’t good for that.

In Kentucky USA, in the 1950's, we never bought dish detergent. We made simple lye soap and used it for everything requiring soap from dishes to hair. Mine doesn't lather as much as conventional soap, but cleans just fine. I still use it today. I don't have city water so I don't run it to rinse. I use 2 wash clothes; not nearly as complicated as it sounds. One I keep suds up for the initial lather/scrub of the dish. Then rather than let the suds wash out and dilute in my very hot dish water I lay it on the side of the sink and rinse the suds off partially. A pan of rinse water with a dash of vinegar has a second dish rag that I use to make sure the dish is thoroughly rinsed before putting it in the drain rack. It only takes a little while to get used to this method, saves me money and gives me a since of satisfaction knowing I have recycled and wasted very little.
