Making Lemon Solid Dish Soap and Unmolding with Recipe

Thanks for tuning in!! Today I am making some solid lemon essential oil dish soap bars!! These are so simple to make and turned out wonderful!! The recipe can be found below and I also state the recipe while making the video. This is a great beginners recipe and can be used by advanced soap makers as well!!
Solid dish soap bars are a great alternative to testimonial bottled dish soap detergent. This is a plastic free alternative and the coconut oil in this dish soap cleans your dishes perfectly!! I have also added a little bit of castor oil for some extra bubbles and it’s scented in lemon essential oil to give off a fresh and extra clean scent!!
Recipe:
Water - 168.4 grams
Lye - 92.11 grams
Coconut Oil - 484.78 grams
Castor Oil - 25.51 grams
Lemon Essential Oil - .2 ounces
Lye Concentration : 33%
These will be very hard when unfolded, however, they still need 4-6 weeks to cure before use.
I also suggest using an individual cavity mold (like the one I used) because the coconut oil will heat up in the mold and in loaf molds can cause cracking and will be very difficult to cut.

Hi, the bars look lovely! What is the temperature of the trace (lye, water n oils) when you add the essential oils? Is it not too hot? Heat destroys essential oils, do the bars smell of lemon?

Thank you 😊 when using the heat transfer method the batch is usually between 120-130 degrees F. This is not hot enough to evaporate essential oils. Citrus scents are usually very mild in cold process soap which works out perfectly for a dish soap as you don’t want too strong of a fragrance for washing dishes 😊😊
