C6 corvettes can be bought in the teens in decent condition, Mustangs now have independent rear suspension and both can slide with little modification. This age is a golden age also! Enjoy it! And again, i think there was like 2 routes everyone went witht the KA's at the time, where as the SR was endless options

in 2011 I had a 91 coupe. Rock Auto was having a clearance on a set of 1990 sohc KA pistons and rings for $65 shipped and somehow out of everyone in the US I managed to get the last set. After a full rebuild and a refreshed crosshatch, I was running I/H/E and after the break in we hit 10.2 in the 1/8 which wasn't bad at all for a 465 power mod. it was at least 20% better through the whole band. ofc that could have been much better with adj sprockets and a tune. I did blow the headgasket about 6 months later, so that was fixed and it ran fine after that. I have no idea what that looked like on the map, but it was most likely running lean. That being said, I think it's fair for me to say that once tuned, it's a nice way to get a modest boost of power without going turbo and it definitely was fun on the backroads/togue. Not really a good engine for drifting though.

@@michaelangelo5783 im still working on getting it tuned but the engine is built and Should be able to rev to 9,000 rpms before I run the risk of spitting out the rocker arms. Nobody has broken past 280whp at this point. So i dunno, granted my build is going on a different philosophy than the only other guy to do it. He basically stroked his to 3.4l and reved it to like 7200 rpms. Mine is stock displacement and should be capable of going to 9k. His is a torque build and mine is an RPM build. Figured id play to the engines strengths buy lightening up the internals as much as i could, upped the compression to 13:1, 272 cams, lighter valves that are +1mm ferrea competition plus hollow stem valves, Light weight rods, Aluminum flywheel, Lightweight cam gears, and im getting an ITB manifold made through a cnc machinist to put ITB's for the first time ever on a 3000gt and that should free up an open header set up to squeeze a little bit more out of it. My goal is to break 300whp on a stock block 6g72 by revving the absolute piss out of it lmao. It even has billet oil pump gears so the sintered oem gears wont shatter bast 7200rpms and its getting E85.

@@az_3kgt714 Definitely sounds like it's going to be a ripper. While I've had and love boosted cars, I love NA more. Subbed and look forward to seeing it in action!

@@michaelangelo5783 I appreciate it man. Hoping to get this last issue squared away..leaking oil pan its not bad but I dont want any issues before I take it to get it dyno tuned. Fairly safe tune while its in break in period then a power tune. See what it can make on 100 octane race gas until i get the flex fuel sensor wired in...everything else is already made for e85. Got a few other projects in the works for it also..

KA24 is a dam reliable engine. Had 286k miles on my 240sx before I sold the car.

Thank you Mike for the wealth of knowledge & it motivates me to do my own 2 KA rebuild! Unfortunately, I am on the EastCoast so sending you my KA is not viable. So I will have to do it on my own unless you know any reputable place like your business here, I would greatly appreciate it! By the way, I hope you can do a short video of the entire build of the KA & maybe ask the owner if he does a dyno so we can see the numbers. Great job and keep up the great work!

Had Rebello build a SOHC in late 90s. Combined with his custom stepped, long tube header, impressive for a truck motor.

Incredibly rare, massively technical yet very old school reference mentioned... Tiddlywinks. guessing most didn't catch that. And great interview with Andre on his channel.
