The sounds used in this were really, really lovely! Nice work to whoever put them together.

In God's infinite wisdom he gave me two kidneys, because he knew I would have to sell one to buy this.

Very versatile. The perfect pro desktop multi media mix pad. It’s not a g series console - you see loads of people reviewing it like it is. Very very clean. Maybe a bit boring perhaps if you’re looking for something with flavour. The converters are very handy - plus straight into a Mac and is recognised by core audio without needing to do anything. Tons of monitoring options. 2 stereo aux sends which proves invaluable for in ears. Bear in mind there’s limited outputs sides from stereo master bus and cues- so it’s really digital in/out for multi tracking. I see that some people use it for summing but it’s probably a bit flavourless so wouldn’t be my first choice for that

I love the fact that he purposely sat the old 4 track Tascam Recorder out .

are the4 tracks mono even the signal is router through usb from daw ?

He has 1+2 and 3+4 panned left and right. So 2 stereo pairs on 2 sets of mono channels

@@DroptekOfficial im looking for a mixer to send bus outputs to external mixer ( 12 busses) but there are no mixer that can do it yet. This could have been ideal if stereo signal can be sent from the DAW and routed back to the DAW.
@DroptekOfficial5 ай бұрын
@@NotDayWalker You can have 6 stereo tracks plus maybe two more If you use the external input channels (though those don't have EQ etc). You could just get a summing mixer and an interface with lots of outputs?

Many good aspects to this video but the narration audio is awful - especially for a video about audio production.

Sounded totally fine to me

Sorry but Neve all the way. Change my mind
@philventre80763 ай бұрын
No doubt, the Neve's are awesome, but you're talking over 20k for a 8424, over 65K(!) for a 16 channel BCM10, plus a ton of real estate needed. Can't compare the 2, they're totally different beasts which cater for a totally different demographic

@@philventre8076 Maybe I should have specified. I was referring to AMS Neve or RND’s smaller format mixers such as the Centerpiece or the 88 series rack units. My experience using the 8816 has been amazing. I believe it’s in the same price range as well.
@philventre80763 ай бұрын
@@PrestonHazard no sweat, but even the Centrepiece is still over 9k. The silk will colour the sound, albeit in a pleasing way, the B6 always claimed to be clean, but the inserts can resolve this if needed (many retailers are selling the violet EQ with the B6 as a gateway to 500 series which makes it even more attractive). The B6 is more flexible overall. Ultimately they are still very different. I can't speak for the 8816, it's piqued my interest in the past, but I personally couldn't use this over a dedicated mixer as it lacks the hands-on and space I prefer from faders. It is still a big chunk of change more than the B6 again, with less options (at least for what I need). The B6 isn't perfect, but you can easily work round any of its limitations. The RND and AMS stuff may have superior sound quality, but it's questionable how much better, plus it comes at a cost. I'm not trying to change your mind btw, I've had a good few mixers and interfaces in the past, this is just my opinion after looking into this for many years to obtain the best approach for my workflow. Cheers

@@philventre8076No I get what you’re saying 100%. Maybe my first comment was a bit of a pretentious statement to make. deeply I believe that no one cares what hear you use to make a song as long as it sounds good. It’s only us (maybe i’m just speaking for myself here) nerds who care lol. I’m just professing my love for Neve lol. Also if you are looking into the 8816, it really is worth it. It’s a bit expensive, and you do need multiple units to get a complete console set up, but it was the answer to my problem. It’s small and compact (even with multiple units) and it’s super convenient to set up. It’s a 16 channel mixer, but unlike most of the other ones I’ve found in the same price range, It has 16 independent channels. Now I use mine to mix off of a 16 channel tape machine, so I’m using it for a niche reason. But nonetheless, It’s 100% worth the cost. It’s easy to work with, it sounds fantastic… like big console fantastic, and it’s rack mounted unit so it fits in any basic studio desk.

The Neve packs are much better suited for summing work. The Big6 isn’t really a summing mixer - it’s a multi purpose work pad. If you have a multi input podcast or media project work its perfect but otherwise it doesn’t really bring any qualities for summing that you don’t already have in your computer so doesn’t make sense to purchase it specifically to use as a summing mixer. - It literally has no sound of its own. And remember that only the first 4 channels have inserts. You’ll need to use separate converters and use any hardware inline for the other 4 stereo channels
