I went from an Audient ID22 to an SSL 2. I was hesitant at first and did A LOT of research and came to the conclusion of 'just try it and hear it yourself' since Amazon has a great return policy. So I did just that and man..I am sooo glad I did it. SSL 2 blew it away and I felt like I didn't really downgrade from an Audient 22 which was a $500 console at the time. I love my SSL2. It's definitely worth it if you're looking for a interface in that range of $100-$500. Thanks!

Excellent video. With that Mic you can really hear what the 4K does and my ears like it ,at least with your mic. Detailed and thorough. Heaphone on back, No on/off switch and meter accuracy is what it's lacking but it sounds really great in your video.

Thanks for the great review! I absolutely LOVE that the SSL2+ volume control goes to 11! It's 'one louder than 10'.... ha

Is there a tutorial for using SSL 2 with OBS with mixer for live streaming???

If I plug this directly into my camera, should I just use the secondary headphone out port, or should I use the RCA outputs since I already have monitors plugged in to the balanced monitor output jacks...?

Thanks so much for this! I have searched high and low for a demo of how to connect a digital keyboard to the interface. I have a Yamaha GX670 and have connected it to the input portion of my SSL2+ interface, the sound is showing on the gain meter however I am not hearing it via earphones. Any suggestions? Do I need to connect it elsewhere?

Can you suggest any hardware equalizer that can pair with the SSL2? I really love the preamp in the SSL2 vs the other mixers you've reviewed on the channel, but would also like to be able to do some EQ in hardware so I don't need to set up software like Voicemeter on my computer.

Have you ever had a look at the guts of the SSL2+? I'm thinking perhaps to add a headphone jack on the front, but wouldn't want to void the warranty. do you think there would be room inside for the Neutrik jack?

Awesome question, unfortunately I've never looked.

Looking hard at this device and appreciated your review. You mentioned that you think USB-C should be standard on all audio interfaces. Why is that? Is there some noticeable difference in the audio quality between USB-C all the other connection options? Or is it just an 'easy to plug in' thing? How does is compare to USB-2 or 3? Thanks in advance for your reply.
@kettnercreative4 жыл бұрын
Because it's all that ships with new computers now. It's faster than previous generations of USB and is seemingly the new standard.
@Secuutus21304 жыл бұрын
USB-C is just the connector type (such as MicroUSB and USB-A). The benefit of USB-C is that it is becoming universal, its more durable (compared to MicroUSB), its smaller (compared to USB-A), and is reversible. USB2.0, USB3.0/3.1, and USB4 are the actual generations that have power and data improvements. USB-C is also used for Thunderbolt connections now as well. USB-C can be used for basically any generation of USB, but is most common on USB 3.1 and newer.

How about this compared to the MOTU M2?
@kettnercreative4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I don't have a Motu M2. Word on the street is that it's quite buggy, has firmware issues, and keeps freezing mid session. I love the specs on paper, I love the LED screen. But reliability is the most important thing that I care about. I don't have any tolerance for gear that can freeze mid session/stream/recording.

Now that I've used the 2+ and the M4, I really like them both. The M4 has become my main recording device for my videos (voice and stereo line output from other interfaces) because it's very clean and articulate. The SSL 2+ has a little bit of color to it, which is great for music. It's still clean and articulate, but it has a little bit of "character" to it. That may or may not be what you're after, depending on what you're doing with it. I haven't had any stability issues with my M4 on Windows 10 using the MOTU drivers. It's been perfectly reliable for the 10 months that I've owned it. I plug it in, and it just works. So far the SSL has been solid as well, but I've only been using it for a week now. Either way, you can't make a bad choice between them. They're both terrific interfaces.

Does anyone know how to use the mic input without it monitoring directly through the speakers? I am trying to use my mic for streaming but I can hear myself all the time.
@kettnercreative3 жыл бұрын
Turn the monitor mix knob all the way to the right (USB). Then you'll need to mute the microphone in your monitoring options of whatever software you're using.
