I don’t think a one base season would ever work on Hermitcraft but a ton of the hermits did express that they would like to deviate away from Mega builds and focus more on social interactions, games, and community. In the tour Gem gave Cleo, X, Ren and Joe they also talked about the possibility of just basing NEAR each other. Kinda like the soup group or boatem which I think is more probable. Plus Gem has been posting her Season X Pinterest inspo boards on twitter which definitely feels like she has a build in mind of her own, not a shared project. I think next season we’re likely to see everyone living much closer together and ditching mega builds.

Having bases of their own doesn't mean they couldn't incorporate multiple builds. You mentioned the Soup Group who all had very different themed bases (elven, dwarven, alien) yet they managed to connect them up. We know Ren wants to continue with his Gigacorp storyline and Scar wants to build a Scarport (Starport) so those two could definitely link bases. Impulse has discussed wanting to do dystopian cyberpunk which would fit in with the futuristic themes of those two. Most Hermits go in to a season with at least a basic theme decided. If they discuss those plans together more we could end up seeing them base in a couple localized groups of 3-7 Hermits rather than most Hermits having isolated bases with maybe 1 or 2 sets of Hermits being nearby each other.

Isolated groups of several Hermits could also lead to some interesting storylines as there would already be established factions like back when we had the NHO vs La Revolution in S5.

You could then have more Hermits collaborating like with boatem/soup group, and have those bases interconnect with each other. Then, the Hermits that want to build a mega base can do, while those that want to build smaller bases can as well.

The build that looks like Diagon Alley was Grian's part of the Boatem Gigabase, underneath Scar's big mountains. It was a way to not have to build the back of his base, because the back of his base would be Scar's mountain.

The thing this guy seems to forget is that some of these "recurring storylines" get started by accident. The prank war, for example, LITERALLY started on accident. Scar and Grian didn't mean to break Doc's tunnel bore. It's just that they weren't paying attention and didn't notice that they'd hit the noteblock twice, which messes up the bore and makes it blow up. The rest was Doc running with it and punishing them, then they fought back with their own prank, and so on.

And I think this guy is off-base (heh) with his prediction that they're going to build *one* structure together like Hermitopia. I think the plan is more to build closer to each other more like Boatem in S8 or the Soup Group valley in S9 where Gem, Impulse and Pearl built so close together that they created a connection from one base to the other.

​@@ms_scribbles Yea, the reoccuring storyline between Grian and Doc is a little skewed. Grian and Scars Bases are next to Doc, if they would have some prank war. They're choices are Doc or BDubs. Although, what a different universe we would live in if they chose BDubs. Additionally, Doc and Grian had been pulling a few pranks on each other all season. Grian Blowing up Docs Base during Zedaphs something Hunt, and Doc's Charged Creeper Cannon and there's another one or so more in between there.

Maybe not one single mega mega base, but bases connected like what Pearl, Gem, and Impulse did. They did their own mega bases, and since they were very close to each other, they connected the bases creating a story

i dont like speculating on stuff like this and i have a hard time articulating why. i like to see a group of friends having fun playing a game where they can express themselves in their own unique ways and interacting with each other. i like longer seasons because, as stated in the video, it allows people to take breaks and take things at their own pace. Playing with your friends, even if you earn money for it, shouldnt be a "thumbnail war" as iskall has worded it. that being said i would absolutely love it if someone like skizz joined the group cause hes such a wholesome joy to be around. he may not be a particularly magnificent builder, but hes fun and a treat. hes always striving to be better. anyone would be a joy to have in the server, but if they stayed the same i would still be happy.

Agreed. I don’t want to ruin my experience of watching HC by speculation, getting hopes up, or predicting what could’ve been a fun surprise. Let the creators come up with their own ideas! I fully want Skizz to join, would still be happy if he didn’t, but he’s just perfect with every single person he’s interacted with. (Imagine Skizz with Iskall? I think the two of them would make a perfect duo now that I consider it!)

BUT, Skizz's vibe REALLY matches + meshes well with Zedaph's. So yes, he is viable. I just... am trying not to get my hopes up (esp. considering Skizz is busy with irl job and cannot go full-time streamer/youtuber just yet)

I actually would like to see them do something like Gem suggested. Still do megabases, but keep them near each other like the soup group bases. So every hermit lives next to a few other hermits and you can walk between all the bases.

Pretty much sums it up for me. None of these things have been announced as factual by the hermits, but just ideas by individual hermits. Ideas change all the time, and getting everyone to agree to join bases sounds unlikely. Some groups will probably happen, where they build close to each other.

It’s hard to get new hermits as the hermits said for a new hermit to be added every hermit must approve if one hermit says no there is no new hermit purely because it’s about friends and they want everyone to get along. I’m quite sure this is true but I cannot verify if it is how it works People are over thinking it yes there could be one base it would be called yet might be boring in a older season especially if you watch multiple hermits but you might think differently but because a hermits says something doesn’t mean it’s true don’t look to deep into things because if you get to excited by this one idea and it never happens you’ll get annoyed it could be more possible that instead of one base we could see something like the soup group where each base is connected except server wide

this is exactly how it works. everyone has to say yes bc it's a group decision. that's why the former owner and creator of hermitcraft was never allowed back on. he asked and someone(s) expressed concern and he was not allowed back on. but imagine being a new hermit and knowing _everyone_ wants you there. it's gotta be amazing

the vanilla thing is not just that anyone can play. mods also take away the challenge that comes with playing vanilla. it's easy to just get a furniture mod or the create mod and chill, but a big part that makes hermitcraft appealing(from my perspective at least) is the hard work and finding ways to make things work w/o these mods. like if they can do that much w/o having mods make things easier, than why can't I or you or anyone else? hermitcraft made me switch to survival in the first place and the extra effort I have to put in there is definitely more rewarding than building something in creative

I agree, personally I hope they never add any big mods, although small ones like the custom horn mod (although that might not technically be a mod) I do enjoy :) while it might be interesting to see how they use it and whatever, it would just kinda ruin the pure building experience, as if Decked Out was a big mod, it would really kinda seem a lot less cooler.

@@Xathonn I know there are some mods, but these aren't the kind of mods that make things super easy. tweakeroo for example does just tiny things like toggling repetitive right or left click which helps to afk farm, freecam and some other smaller stuff like removing bats which can get in the way for things like decked out 2. still very much vamilla in comparison to adding mods like create, nuclearcraft, pam's harvestcraft, aether or even just a mainly biome adding ones like better end, better nether or byg

I don't think "easy" is the correct word here for Create, rather I think "different" is more accurate. Create makes it easier to get certian things, sure, but that's not the point of it, rather it raises the ceiling on what's possible. That said however, I doubt they'll ever add it to the base Hermitcraft series, and would not want to see it added as I part of Hermitcraft's appeal is that it's vanilla.

@@christianseibold3369 you kinda missed the point I was making. tell me. does adding create makes minecraft still feel vanilla or not? like in comparison to tweak mods like light overlay, tweakeroo, optifine and such. I don't think so and with create comes a whole new skill set you have to acquire. more of an interesting challenge for some, less for others. create also adds movements into the game making things feel more alive. even moving entire machines like giant drills on just one rail line, but vanilla doesn't have that automatically or by the pressing of a button. Bdubs for example had to find ways to make things look more alive w/o a mod like this. besides building a drill to mine for ancient debris would completely undermine the effort Jevin put into gathering enough for an entire beacon. that's what I mean by mods like this making things easy in some ways. nuclearcraft is obviously another kind of beast, because not just does achieving anything takes ages, but it radiates the world by default. it is similar in that it makes the game not feel like vanilla anymore. besides you can't expect the people waiting for the world download to go through all the modding process. the more mods you have, big or small, the higher the chance to run into issues if you don't know what you're doing. personally I see mods like better end taking away the vanilla feeling the least, because it's just end biomes and at most the possibility to enchant things/open end portals in other locations via rituals, but still the same issue of people who want the world download having to mod the game before being able to play. I know some mods are needed for decked out 2, but not for the entire thing and it's those that don't cause lag or might crash randomly

seeing how even in this long season the lack of content from some longtime Hermits (iskall,stress,wels) makes me think it was discussed as a group that more faces need to be added, whether by others leaving or by just adding more.... this would be a business move... fresh faces has brought HC more and more into the limelight since season 6, with out Grian, pearl, and gem the HC future could have fizzled out.

It could also be that the new member list simply isn't finalised. It's barely been a week since s9 ended and many of the hermits are taking breaks; I don't think s10 will be starting for at least a couple months so it's very possible that even if jimmy is on the list of people the hermits are discussing having join, I doubt the vote would have taken place yet, let alone him being asked. So it could simply be that right now, he's as in the dark as we are, but he could still be asked to join closer to the new season starting.

I love the idea of all the Hermits working together, but I don't think it would work as a single base. Maybe as a huge metropolis where each Hermit builds different buildings and it just keeps getting bigger. That would be sweet. I'd also love to see Solidarity, Smallishbeans, and Skizzleman on Hermit Craft. Joel definitely has the building talent, and very fun interactions. Even though, no offense, Jim and Skizz don't have the best building skills, they more than make up with it with their social interactions. They're both hilarious and would bring a lot to the server. But hey, if not it's all good, we'll still love yea.

I'd love to see Scott on Hermitcraft. He makes such beautiful builds on Empires and in the Life series even and he's got such a positive and wholesome energy. I wonder why he's never mentioned, when it cones to potential new Hermit, cause I think he'd be a perfect fit. Maybe because he's on so many other SMPs which are heavily modded (making it tough to follow alpng on the gameplay side sometimes), but seeing him on Hermitcraft would be a dream to me.

Jimmy and Scott are great, but both seem "more at home" on Empires and I don't think they themselves would gain much from joining Hermicraft; Whereas I would love to see what Skizz is up to a year into being on the same server as all his Life series friends. The Hermits have all been mentioning in videos how that being closer in the past couple seasons have made them all better builders and redstoners because they've been able to spend time with and learn from each other, and I would love that for Skizz

Something I want to add to the discussion: the Life series for SURE takes time from the hermits who are in it and by consequence makes the seasons longer. I think long seasons are just going to be the norm. If they want to keep up the amount of diverse content they have been having these last 2 years, they simply don’t have the time to devote everything to just one series

For now I'll say I like the longer season more. I just love Season 9, and my second is 7, and third is 8 cause it's short and has chaotic storyline which I will always love edit: pls don't add mods. I know that free cam mode is technically a mod but it helps to work the vanilla way for decked out. I'm fine with retexturing or adding new sounds for horns or music discs but just no mods. Just stay that way

I'll also add: Despite Season 9 being the longest season to date, the amount of Hermitcraft video uploads as a whole has been relatively low. Several factors being Etho & Mumbo both taking a hiatus, Stress & Iskall's sporadic appearances between Vault Hunters, Welsknight getting burned-out, Hypno taking a short hiatus, death of TFC, Grian's "Life" series 3 times... To balance it out, Season 10 really needs to be adding at least 4-5 new Hermits to keep Hermitcraft videos in KZbin's Top New Video's playlist rotation. Obvious choices would be Sausage, Joel, Lizzie, Jimmy, and Skizz.

I do think having everyone together in like a neighborhood base would be cool. Mostly because when watching grian’s last episode he kept mentioning how he hadn’t even gone on one side of the server the whole time. It would allow for more interaction between hermits and perhaps more collaboration builds. I’d definitely say I’m for something like that. They could do like a neighborhood concept, a mountain with builds, stacking, jungle with bridges, islands, etc. I think at least having their starter bases all together would be nice and then they could still do their own thing. Also I agree with jimmy, no mods or texture packs/ shaders. Hermitcraft being “boring” is what makes it so fun. It shows kids too that they can create so much with just vanilla Minecraft. Also I’d like to apply to become a hermit. Lmao I haven’t played Minecraft in years XD they keep making me want to play though

I dont like speculating about hermit craft. I think it is the perfect entertainment form already. It is clear that the Hermits did not force themselves to have fun just so that we can have fun, they are genuinely enjoying themselves, which makes it easier to watch. I also feel that creators should maintain the long seasons so that individually, they have breaks and can take it at their own pace, so as not to stress the fun that they are already having, and eventually become a machine. New additions would be welcome, but it’s not up to conspiracy theorists to figure out who it will be, and if they’re shutting down HC, and just general rumors like that. If the creators have “an INSANE Plan” then let’s let it surprise us. Looking forward to a great season!

Boatem is still the most entertaining HC group ever IMO, and a huge reason for it was that they all based together. Not only that, they ran their shops together and stuff too. They were almost constantly interacting, and that was really fun. Id have loved for them to have based together in season 9 too, especially with Scar feeling better and able to participate more. Id love to see a similar community like that, or maybe a couple, like how the Big Eyes and Octagon were also around in season 8. The prank wars and competition between them all was great

I think the "one base" concept would be HUGE for the starter bases. Imagine everyone working together for the grindy stuff in the early game, like impulse's industrial areas but made on a scale meant to benefit all hermits. imagine how much they can get done with their mega bases when its time, if everyone works together to grind out all the big material farms early on??

As far as I know they only concrete idea is Impulse confirmed his next base will be a Dystopian Cyberpunk City and he will be getting help from another Hermit But others Im pretty sure are just floating ideas around like Scar has of course mentioned doing Scar Wars but has said that could be Season 10 or 11 maybe even 12+ so not set in stone, Ren mentioned some ideas like a Space Port in The End, or a Giant Anime Mech that's an iron farm where the Golems spawn in the head and then fall into a Cauldron the Mech is holding But most of them from what I've been hearing are still in the brainstorming phase

Just the vibe I've gotten whenever he's been asked about it. Also, he's still working a full time job besides KZbin and streaming. That sounds like a lot to do at once.

Wouldn't surprise me if more than a few Empires peeps join. Jimmy's not the best at building, but he's very charismatic and very entertaining. Joel and Sausage are godtier builders like Scar and Bdubs, and would be fantastic additions to Hermitcraft as well. I could also see an argument for all the other Empires people as well. Obviously it won't be all of them, so my guess would most likely be those three first.

I doubt they’re gonna create a communal mega base because at the start of the season, I was like wow they’re all so spread out and they have so much space, looking at the bases now, they’re all crammmed together because these hermits require so much space for their land. Almost every base is touching one another. Scar got limited on all sides

I would love to see them come up with a fully functional farm area that is fully integrated, like one item flows into the other farm to fuel it or to create items there, intead all of the seperate farms everyone does. Same with the combined base of Pearl Impulse and Geminitay. Seeing others build gives inspiration and a feel for community. Getting exited and inspired, trying to connect to other styles and even working and building together. The ice race is a great example of a nice build. With one hermit doing an interior and another doing an outside of a build for example will give more air to make something interesting without the hard grind and high tempo.

There’s nothing that makes me click off a minecraft SMP faster than mods 💀 Vanilla tweaks? Yes. Custom resource packs? Yes. But those aren’t game changing-the appeal of Hermitcraft is that they do that stuff in SURVIVAL. It inspires me that if i put my heart i to it, i could do that stuff too someday. Doc makes me wanna try farms, Pearl makes me wanna sculpt, Bdubs makes me wanna try diorite in builds, Grian makes me wanna spam eggs in my friends’ houses. 😂❤

With how excited Impulse was, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Skizz. Personal pref is longer seasons. More time for long term projects with less rush to finish. Can always do a refresh by going to a different area or taking a break inbetween and coming back refreshed. Gives the option to do short seasons on a long season to a degree if highly motivated to do so.

I've listed some possible new members of HCS10 prior to this video actually: -SmallishBeans -LDShadowlady -Smajor1995 -Solidarity -InTheLittleWood -Skizzleman -MythicalSausage On this list, I really think that both Lizzie and Joel are the most likely to be added next though. They have many connections with the hermit people; They've been around for as long as everyone else on the server; They're really good content creators and of course, they can build extremely well (although it's not a requirement, they still passed this one!)

Apart from needing to be friends with the Hermits themselves, I suspect one of the big motivations for approving a new member on the server will be whether they are able to help the other Hermits provide content on their videos. It may sound extremely mercenary, but the modern Hermitcraft is a business for almost all the Hermits these days, and most of them have families to support. It's something they can't afford to mess with. So any new member will not only need to be able to create their own videos, but interact with the other Hermits, which means they will primarily be looking at the full time content creators these days (simply because they have more opportunity for interactions across the server on an individual basis). And time zones will be important in this regard too, since with regular streaming being very important they tend to interact mainly with people who are awake when they are. For instance Tango admitted recently he really didn't interact with ZombieCleo until the Secret Life series, so had no idea how fun working with her could be). Even the viewers tend to focus on a few individuals, just from the sheer amount of time required to watch everything. And they are also looking for people that shore up weaknesses in the individual Hermits abilities, rather than reinforcing their existing strengths. Hence the general addition of renowned builders. Given the ad hoc nature of story creation on the server (which is what keeps it strong because there are no real plans beyond trusting each other to play off each other), I expect there might be a need for more impromptu storytellers to help bring them together more. Which does give Skizz an edge here in the new member sweepstakes I suspect, but for it to be clinched I suspect that he would have to retire from his work and take up content creation full time. Then again being already a part of the strong Arizona contingent may count agaionst hime with the other Hermits. Martin also works well in this role, and would reinforce the European contingent (those most active when Europe is awake). Both have shown a tendency to reach out to other players during Secret Life, rather than simply just making their own stuff, which is I suspect is something the Hermits are actively looking for in any new members. What will be will be.

My opinions on vs long seasons (specifically for hermitcraft) Short seasons are fun for the viewers because of how much people interact (I might not have the best idea of this, i only watched boatem POVs season 8) but there isn't enough time to see where all the hermits can go with their... everything, builds, characters, stories in general. I've also heard at least a few hermits say they didn't really enjoy season 8 because of the stress and pressure of a short season. With long seasons, on the other hand, even though everything is a more spread out, you get good quality videos, builds, and stories, which are all taken wherever (to an extent) the hermits want to go with them. I also love the idea of project country road, I heard the name before but didn't know what it was, going off of the soup group's bases, that would be *amazing*

With Terralith, Incendium, Nummscape the interesting thing is that they are all avaible as Datapacks. So they are not needing a Modded Minecraft Client. So they still might be considered vanilla. I just woul love to see a Mod for better inventory management on Hermitcraft. :) The Hermits ranting about the inventory is real. And I love that the Hermits use Mods Like Freecam. As they are friends, and administrate and moderate themselves so well as a group, I think it is great to be able to use such mods for video creation, and working together, and sorting out their bases, and such things. They use these kind of mods in a non harmful, interesting way.

One big megabase/living area did make for a lot of quick colab. Like no farms in that area - no lag generators. One big storage area so there's much less grind. Also the server would only need ONE raid farm. ONE villager area. One gold farm. One shulker farm. They set up a community ender ender - if they did it with everything else imagine what they could do. Put lag generators out of render distance.

I love the longer seasons because more things happen. But as far as knowing what the hermits are up to I would have to say that we won't know until season 10 actually starts. They do tend to be pretty closed mouth about what they're up to, so any guesses are just pure speculation. And that was Grian's base that he based off of Diagon Alley. And Hermitcraft is best because it's done in vanilla Minecraft. Empires was awesome because the only thing that was changed was how some of the plants looked, it was still a vanilla Minecraft server. The create mod would totally destroy Hermitcraft because it would not only cause a tremendous amount of lag that would continually crash the server but it would also be something the regular Minecraft player couldn't do. And that is what makes Hermitcraft so appealing. I would love to see both Joel and Lizzie on Hermitcraft. Skizzleman had already said he wouldn't join, but maybe he'll change his mind. Having Skizz, Impulse and Tango (who all live close by each other) together on Hermitcraft could lead up to as many hilarious shenanigans as if Joel joins and partners up with Grian. We all should know that fWhip will never join, because he's said that he doesn't want to.

Okay grian said in his last video that him and scar blowing up docs boar wasn't scripted or any reoccurence. Everything done this season wasn't scripted but he did said in his one episode that he didn't like his build. Which is probably why his season ended early he only participated in the events and not recorded them cause he didn't feel like it or something he said it in his video. But season 10 was gonna be him doing his own thing without a base ideas that he made in creative. He just wants to have fun.

I think honestly "Project Country Road" is likely going to end up being more similar to something like the "soup group" base area where Impulse, Gem, and Pearl were basing so close together and wound up with their bases interlinking with multiple different passages leading from one base into another one. If you scale that up adding in areas like Scarland with paths attatching to it, it starts being kindof easy to see how they could all link up...the ones that usually end up with giant redstone things like Doc, would probably be the hardest to link. Then you have Tango with his amazing Decked out builds, and a build like that likely wouldnt be in the country roads base linked up like the soup group's bases UNLESS you were simply refferring to the parts of the build that are the above ground structure being the citadel itsself though that problem only comes up if tango uses his base for the decked out area again, the first time he put decked out in the shopping district and not in his base so there's that. That being said, there are some Hermits who have essentially lived close enough to be in the same base, you have Grian and Mumbo who have lived around eachother's bases in the same kind of interlinking thing as the soupgroup, this was even a thing through season 9, i mean their bases have a bridge spanning between them and they had lots of content playing jokes or just hanging out with eachother. Back to season 8 in boatem you had loads of bases all linking together like the way the soup group did in season 9, yes i'm talking about boatem. It was and is such a fun area that it sticks in your mind, but dont forget there's also Gem's base being so close to Ren and Doc's areas that season as well that they kindof blended edges...though you alsp have things like Cub building a massive temple full of games making it both his base and a kind of minigame district, or making an entirely new biome out of blocks no one would have expected...i dont see things like Create mod or even Terralith being added in, they simply make the game not be vanilla at all anymore, even "better minecraft" adds too many things to the world that simply wouldnt exist for vanilla players. Though yes i think these mods are cool the thing is Hermit Craft has always been a base Vanilla game with a couple QOL mods added in, like free cam for better viewing of their builds, and single player sleep so everyone's not having to log off just to where one person can sleep to make it day time for everyone so they can all log back in again. The mods from Vanilla tweaks like the armor stand mod and bring able to silence mobs if they are named certain things, as well as faster leaf dealcay and such are again QOL things, the elephants in the room are of course the armorstand mod, and the miniblock/mob heads mods. Now i'll explain why...the armorstand one is an elephant in the room because of just how much special positioning that you can do with things using it, but it also looks absolutely amazing when done well as you can see through Cleo's hard work with the armor stands, that being said those armorstands are a LOT of entities and can make things verry laggy if you arent careful, so your best bet is to make sure that you're using them creatively while also being mindful of lag issues on a multiplayer server, if your single player then there's no issue unless you bring that singleplayer mindset to an SMP. The other one being the miniblocks/mob heads...having more mobs drop their heads is always kindof funny and gives you a means of making things like a collection hall got all the mobs you've killed and such that being said the mini-blocks are another matter, there are already some vanilla mob heads so adding more for the ones that didnt have them is likely something that will be added in eventually anyeay, but the miniblocks are different. There arent currently any miniature blocks in vanilla minecraft, unless you count the mob heads, but things like a minuature diamond block, emerald block, stone block, and so on just dont exist at all the closest thing to a miniature stone block being a button, but that's actually functional and also smaller than the miniature stone block...while i will admit the mini-blocks are adorable and VERY useful for detailing things just like the armorstand mod being used for detailing, it is the true mod that they have that does not exist in vanilla minecraft. It in my head is a aesthetic mod instead of a QOL mod because unless you're using it for decorating the mini-blocks dont do anything that their larger counterparts would do, you can't turn on and off a mini redstone lamp or power a mini piston for example but you can with the full size versions in that same vein the mini redstone blovk and redstone ore block dont power things or trigger redstone either so there's that. And i think that's kindof where the whole rant i have ab look ut these is going, if they add in any mods, it's not going to be ones that fundamentally change minecraft, so ones that change the world generation like Terralith, Biomes a plenty. Better minecraft, and so on will not be added, they change the world generation FAR too much. Things like create mod and inkerer's construct and what not that fundamentally change redstone are again fundamentally changing it and likely won't be added for that reason, because it's not vanilla minecraft and not something that'd be used by a lot of the server anyway. The whole point here is if it fundamentally changes base vanilla minecraft it's likely not being added to hermit craft.❤ sorry for the post being so long but seeing people suggesting things like Terralith and the Create mod and such when Hermit Craft is quite possibly one of the least modded high content SMPs is a bit mindboggling to me....They did do a SHORT series i think it went MAYBE 3 seasons or so through modded content and it didnt do very well so....i doubt they'll go back to modded unless it's a small personal content side thing from specific ones wanting to try out the mods just to see what's there.

Watching a lot of the last videos and the videos during the crossover of the awe they had on Empires. I think the crossover with Empires had an impact on a lot of the Hermits seeing that it doesn’t have to be one massive build to feel like a mega base, not to mention just seeing how much collaboration everyone had played together while still having their own thing.

I mean, the hermit tower in Empires worked out well but that was more like a starter base. A collective build as a long term base may get complicated because the hermits are always taking on new projects and ideas and constantly expanding and upgrading. I think a base with designated space for each hermit to build might just end up stifling their creativity. The reason the soup group worked so well was because the connection points were in the centre and then their bases expanded outwards from there. Which isn’t really feasible with 10 or more players at once. Especially when you have such a wide variety of play styles. Though if they tried to be relatively close together and do something maybe a bit more similar to the pathing that Mumbo, Grian and Scar had in season 9 it might be feasible (the bridge from Mumbo to Grian and the path from Scarland to the Rocks). Like the ‘country road’ theory, a continuously long path that goes from each base to the others rather than one connect point might be good, but that still would be finicky. They’d need a good map and to consider that some people might be planning more red-stone centred projects. Though it would be cool to see more bases like the Soup Group. I just think it might be hard for the whole server to do it together without that stifling creative flow. Especially as Hermits often change their ideas or go with the flow. Like how X and Grian were talking about not having definite plans (though X just was undecided due to new inspo & Grian purposefully wants to try without over-planning).

Season 8 was a favourite for me… and I feel like that has been the season where I watched the most of everyone’s videos - I have probably watched as much or more 9, but a few hermits have posted less / the small groups and collaborations really go a long way, and I feel like the interactions are a real asset…. I actually really loved the empire crossovers… but do feel like the story didn’t really develop and ended suddenly without going as far as it could have! Would love to see more empire / life players on hermit craft… more solidarity on HC!

On the topic of recurring storylines - Professional Wrestling has a 3/7 Rule. The audience won't approve of a turn if it happens within 3 months of a previous turn (basically you can't go from good guy to a bad guy). And you can reuse a storyline after 7 years. And as you said it...Grian vs Doc happened six years between them.

I think longer series are better for messing around and story progression with all the antics the hermits get up to over a season. That being said, with a short season the big projects look bigger because it's done on a higher tempo and hermits won't have the time to overthink it and rebuild it and minmax it instead of just getting something cool down and moving on to the next cool thing :p Now a con of long seasons is also that inspiration starts to dwindle as time goes on causing a lot more writers block as mumbo and iskall have presented, though on the other hand in a short season if the same happens anyway a con would be that they'd likely have to skip the season altogether instead of having "just a break". I think having a bit of a mix of both can be pretty healthy for the server.

I think the longer form works when everyone has cohesive episodes. I liked the shorter season, sure. But 9 was too long. Maybe we do a 14-16 month season as a max for the long form. I was ready for season 10 over the summer. About 15 months into it.

My thoughts: 1) 100% won't be modded. As cool as a Create season would be, Hermitcraft will be Vanilla. Any mods will be purely client-side, aesthetic, or to improve server performance / quality of life. Xisuma has stated this many times over the last few seasons. 2) I definitely get the impression that some / most of the Hermits want to explore living in closer proximity to each other - at least to begin with - as has been hinted at with Season 8's Boatem, the Empires crossover, and the beginning of Season 9. A commune (aka, "Country Road") is highly likely. Think along the lines of the cave system Scar created at spawn in Season 5... 3) A lot of Hermits have hinted at wanting to make a thriving business, so I think there will once again be more of an emphasis on the Shopping District, or shops in general. I liked the Season 8 idea that there wasn't a single Shopping District, but rather every base area had their own shops. I'd like to see a return to that. 4) Another idea I'd like to see return is themed regions. Hermits could start off living in close proximity before branching off in smaller groups to "found" new towns based around a specific theme. Every couple of months, there will be a rotation, and Hermits pick another town to visit and build in that style. This would keep content fresh, and help encourage Hermits to step out of their comfort zones. Mega builds could be reserved for community projects. 5) I definitely get the feeling that we will see an evil version of Gem in Season 10. 😉 6) A lot of people have been calling for Joel to join HC for a long time - which would be an amazing boost to the server! He has great chemistry with most of the other Hermits already, and is a world class Minecraft builder. However, I feel his loyalties lay with Lizzie & Jimmy and the Empires crew. With that said, Pearl, Gem, and False have all run both servers concurrently, so it's not out of the question. 7) Assuming there will be at least 1 new Hermit, my money would be on Skizzleman. His energy matches that of the Hermits, is already good friends in real life with Tango, Impulse, and Zedaph, and seems to be fitting in with the Hermit/Empires group events nicely already. I give 3/1 odds that Skizz will join Season 10. 8) Hermitcraft x Empires would be amazing. Everybody playing together on the same server, yet doing their own thing. Hermits can build empires, Empires peeps can take part in community events. 9) Redstoners work together to create an epic communal Industrial District, opposed to lots of different ones lagging the server. We don't need 5 more IanXOfour raid farms when one will suffice 😅

People don't love hermitcraft because it is vanilla, we love it because its the hermits. In fact this season had a lot of help from quality mods that do help bring life to the server, if not just voice chat and shennanigans with textures/sounds. We SAW the potential of anything mod related just with how decked out id different from everything else, without even using mods. There is a limit to how much you can do with just vanilla minecraft and a limited number of people, for much that we love their interactions. That is why Vault hunters, life series and even build swap series exist, it brings content and life to an otherwise tedious and repetitive series. And longer series isn't better at all, there was more life in the server in season eight than nine, and definitely way more since decked out came out. Artistically was awsome because we saw magnificent builds and games, but that was it.

The singular base seems like a good idea and it may happen at the beginning. But afterward, I would think it would stifle the creativity which end up them leaving and making their mega bases. I know they said they wanted to build near each other cause the Hermits were to spread out this season, so they will be close, just not one singular build close. I also like the longer seasons, but I think it would be better with the shorter ones, so it wouldn't put so much pressure on them to figure out what to do next story wise. That being said whatever happens in season 10, I will be watching my Hermits.

the only solid think i have heard is scar and ren talking on stream a few days ago. they discussed the possibility of a space port and mechs idea. Longer seasons are better for hermitcraft IMO. The scale of projects being completed is massive, like scarland which still was not completed at the end of season. There's also no way they're installing mods that change the game like create. Multiple hermits have said they chose the mods they use deliberately to enhance the vanilla experience or the viewer experience.

Hmm. Take 20 folks, overall fairly creative & motivated individuals, with literally MILLIONS of followers/fans. They are NOT running out of ideas, good LORD. 🙄 I think if anything, they may inadvertently have similiar themes or storylines because THEY like them, they know FANS like them, they're comfortable & happy changing elements of something familiar & enjoyed, they know ~general~ plans for Season lengths, & after TEN YEARS... what can be achieved in said time frames, etc. And if new Hermits for new blood to replace those basically not active at all this past season? Hands-down it would be Jimmy, Joel & Skizz. Imo ALL 3 mesh rather well with the Hermits from all I've watched of HC, Empires, MCC, Life Series, Other SMP's, server-crossover, invites... (tho haven't had the chance to watch these 3 with Every current Hermit.) Some with better builds, some works-in-progress. 😉 But ALL are Unique, fun, Funny, & helpful, while also willing to try new/take risks, & always seem Happy to put in the work, the GRIND as Doc calls it. 😊
