On Saturday 29 October, hundreds gathered outside downing st for a protest in solidarity with the uprising in Sudan against a military coup.
On Monday 25 October, the Sudanese military seized power in the country. People in Sudan are resisting the military takeover with strikes, roadblocks, and mass civil disobedience.
The protest converged with the United Friends and Families Campaign (UFFC) annual rally, as well as a protest against the blockade of airports in Yemen.
How you can stand in solidarity with the revolution in Sudan:
1. Attend future solidarity protests
2. Sign this open letter from trade unionists and activists against the coup in Sudan: www.change.org/noCoupinSudan
3. Pass a resolution in your trade union branch condemning the coup and demanding that the British government breaks all links with the Sudanese military. In 2019 rs21 published a model motion that can be adapted with information about the current situation in 2021. Link here: www.rs21.org.u...
