None of these videos finish the part. If you're not going to finish it during the video at least show the finished product at the end.
@TheWireEDM7 жыл бұрын
The finsihed part was shown in the beginning of the video, as is customary to show first what the end result will be and people can then just skip the whole video if they are not interested.

@@stexxvan They show here exactly what makes companies money: getting material removed as fast as possible with the least amount of tool wear and programmer fatigue. Finishing is always the same, you can't skip anything in it.

16MnCr5 is the steel with the highest kc1.1 not only the cam here is good, but the mill has to be incredibly strong and still to mill at such speeds! :0

In SolidCAM there is a slider from 1 to 8 I think, that you can select the aggressiveness of the cut based upon your material holding, type of operation and machine rigidity. I used a clapped out Primero with a top speed of 8000 RPM and 6000 mm/min feeds and it purrred happily with the setting 5 with a part held in a vise.

As a Mastercam user... that tool path is just sexy. I wonder if this path works like mc. Do you set a step up? What Is tool diameter? SFM? WOC? IPT?
@TheWireEDM7 жыл бұрын
Nope, it works completely different to MasterCAM. In MasterCAM you have to figure out all the options and hope it works. In SolidCAM, you tell it the tool length, tool diameter, tool material, helix angle (not necessary but helps in vibration cals), workpiece material and/or hardness and the solid model you want to machine, the initial workpiece block, select machining aggressivenes with a slider from 1-8 and hit go with your feed & speed pots at 100 % and go have a coffee. MasterCAM is childrens playground stuff compared to this.

+SolidCAM Deutschland what else than a hermle. ;) watching the video i was already impressed about the stability and smoothness of the milling process despite the heavy workload on the end mills. those hermle machines are just ridiculous when it comes to precision combined with power and speed, and worth every single cent of their price. great vid as well, it's like TPC porn.
@TheWireEDM7 жыл бұрын
Your Tormach can do that, just use slightly less aggressive slider setting in SolidCAM. Heck, you can even mill stainless on a crappy wood router with this software.

@Cerebralcinema9 жыл бұрын
+Taylor Stewart (Picwick) Solid Cam writes the program. If you're referring to the brief pause, the same thing happens on the opposite side @ 2:29. It's because the spindle changes speed. Machines typically aren't programmed to change spindle speed in mid feed. Although it's possible to do it, it's generally not recommended.
@515sheriff9 жыл бұрын

@TheWireEDM7 жыл бұрын
All variables in SolidCAMs output. Vc depends mostly on material, tool material and aggresiveness of the cut, but with SolidCAM you just select what material, how aggressive you want to cut and that's it, it figures out all those variables for you and changes them on the fly.
