"You're not just some guy, friend, your life is just as important as anyone else's. So if that means saving it, then [revealing my secret identity]'s a risk I'm willing to take." And in just two sentences, Solid JJ has captured the essence of Superman better than most official DC media in the past decade+... in a parody video that ends in Superman deliberately convincing someone to kill themselves.

As sad as it is, that's because genuinely good characters are a joke nowadays. The idea that someone can put their lives on another's hands selflessly ends with a joke because doing it for realsies is too "corny" for media. I'm sure we can find some examples if we look deep enough, but it's not the norm.
@BAMFshee
@BAMFshee 9 ай бұрын
@@chrism2516 They've done it pretty well too. The scene where Clark, completely unaware that he's borderline invincible, leaps in front of a barrage of lasers meant for Lois ("How'd you know you'd be bulletproof?" "I didn't. What the heck.... *Subscribed.* Seriously, you're more entertaining than 80% of the people on KZbin I'm already subscribed to. This place is so frickin' broken. Seriously, my recommendations page is constantly full of the very same videos that have been on there for months now. I'm not even joking. There's like maybe four new recommendations on that long huge page every once in awhile. Almost everyone else I'm subbed to has become lazy as hell with their content, assuming if they haven't nearly given up and spend months in-between uploads. It's like they don't even try anymore.

I'm sorry, I don't quite follow. You want me to...? *Batman:* Two minutes *Superman:* Batman, what are yiu saying? *Batman:* Look, it's obviously your first time, so I tried adjusting expectations more reasonably. That might have been a Gwen Stacy level of saving him, though. Superman is less shock-absorbent than concrete or steel, so he would need to fly in the same direction as the jumper and gradually slow them down (granted, many Superman comics/cartoons/etc... ignore this and have him catch people in ways that should greatly harm them). No idea what version of Superman they were using for this. Sometimes Superman needs a space suit/oxygen mask (DCAU, Lois & Clark, etc...) or can be hurt by more mundane things (Fleischer cartoons, post-crisis reboot, etc...). In the late 50's-the 60's he was basically unstoppable at basically everything.

Mhm. So you tell someone something intentionally without even a NDA and because they then say they are going to use the information which you willingly gave them no-strings attached that means you are in the moral and legal right to actively deceive them into killing themselves. Look, its clear you didn't exactly spec for self awareness but I feel like if I need to point out that a stereotypical corrupt CEO who has a worker that "learns too much" and needs to be taken out is literally more justified than what you are straight as shit trying to justify as morally and legally ok, you might need to stop one tricking and spend your next perk points a bit more wisely.

@@internetguy7319 Not if the life being lost was about to ruin yours, clearly. What kind of mindset is that? A guy says “I am gonna rape your daughter”. Then he accidentally trips and hits his head on his own. You are both in the middle of a random alley with no one else there. Do you help him? Pretty obvious that no. Is letting a life being lost worse than rape? Objectively, it isn’t. But do you help someone who was about to hurt your family? No, you don’t. Legally, it’s your obligation to call an ambulance, but this time, passiveness wouldn’t be a problem because it’s more of less a variation of self-defence. And, morally, would ANYONE in the world blame this dad? No, they wouldn’t. Same thing. You don’t need to help someone who is about to ruin your life. That’s it.
