Fantastic tip. I’m sure this will come in handy as I often design components that interact and interlock. Thanks!

Im a novice modeler and im trying to gain experience with my printing. This channel has truly been helpful in stirring up new ideas for my upcoming projects!

Just add the tolerances on the master sketch. That way you can find it, in order to modify its give. So much easier than hunting down that edit.

Please expand your explanation if you don’t mind. How exactly can one assign different unique tolerances for different sets of a component by adding tolerances on the master sketch. Let others understand what you mean. If you could, I’ll pin your comment to the top

@@with-AryanI am not really sure what they mean either. If I had to name a few methods to add different tolerance values to the sketch or model feature it would be… 1. Use equations and link to sketch dimension/feature parameter so you can edit tolerance from the equation manager. 2. Add name and description to the sketch feature in the feature tree so you can find it quickly. 3. Set tolerances for various manufacturing methods/machines in configurations. Use design tables / configuration tables if needed.

i prefer to add tolerances to the dimensions in my drawing.

you must! But you would still need this when you are going to 3D print this yourself at home or work

Great tip for personal projects. There's ANSI & ISO standards for fit tolerance that you can follow to create any type of fit. BTW That is a nice 3d printed piece! Do you plan to make video about your 3d print machine?

How did you decide on using 0.4mm? Is there a table/formula to do this accurately?

I think this is a great idea for the face that didn't have enough tolerance. Not for every face.

Yes, usually this is a lifesaver to 3D printing enthusiasts, helps add that 0.4mm tolerance as needed to critical faces.

What about, if I work with the fact I'm using 0.3mm tolerance in general?

for what manufacturing process? you cannot do that for fine designs. that's too rough
