Solitaire TacOps is a campaign system that simulates the battlefield space where operational decisions meet tactical realities. For Ortona, you start with a brigade of four infantry battalions, one armored regiment, an artillery battery, and an engineer company. These are represented on counters ranging from platoons to squads, with tank groups and artillery guns. Players will make operational decisions such as when and where to engage the enemy, which forces to use, and the type of support to provide them with. The scenarios are then played on hex maps that use a megahex activation system to manage the opposition.

Looks right up my alley. You guys realize that there was an old computer wargame called TacOps? It was pretty good, too. Modern, platoon level as I recall.

I was a playtester for that game. I even once played an introductory scenario against a 3-star at Quantico when the Corps was considering the game engine as a training tool. I once ran a game depicting 73 Easting for a large club, took 4 hours to resolve the combat, but it was an awesome experience.

A Canadian Brigade was composed of 3 Regiments, not 4 battalions. If you're going to do a game on the Canadian Military, make the effort to learn our terminology and how our forces were organized.
