Very entertaining little slice of your life there brother. Sure beats a life spent in that big, black box of an office. 👍

This is a wonderful video - i also play solo, which of course can be very lonely. Seeing you document your day, giving us the insight, makes me feel better when I'm out there doing the same! I'm relatively new to your channel but I must say, it's fast becoming my favourite. Very inspiring! Thank you 😊

Hi and welcome to the channel. I know what you mean about this solo acoustic biz. It can be a bit isolating. Thanks for commenting and hope you continue to enjoy the content .. cheers

Thanks Frank. Brings back memories of visiting New York in 2017. We stayed in or near Hoboken. One subway stop from the Freedom tower.

Nice! NY can be a great city when it’s not driving you crazy lol!!!

BTW have you ever tried a wireless head mic? Seems like it would be very convenient!
@FrankPersico3 ай бұрын
@@chadandrews98 I have thought about it for the central park gigs. never bit the bull though. the challenge with a mic that is permanently connected like that means you cant adjust your distance from the mic to account for vocal dynamics.

It’s interesting how you guys do life over there, I’m in Sydney. It looked like a really nice wedding, music wasn’t half bad either. Cheers Frank

Hi Frank what gear did you take for this gig please. New York looks a very intimidating place compared to Galway Ireland.
@FrankPersico3 ай бұрын
Hi there! Eh NY is a looney bin but Im born here so im used to it I suppose. Galway! Nice. Makes me think of the song Galway Girl. All I brought to this gig is my guitar and a small battery powered Roland Cube.

so you have developed a collection of instrumental arrangements you can play for weddings gigs? would you name some simpler pieces I could try to learn?
@FrankPersico3 ай бұрын
I do have some instrumentals I do but most are jazz standards. Irish wedding song is fairly simple. Canon in D isn’t too hard either.

Thanks so much. I play a Gibson songwriter with an old school barn door pickup system. Through a small battery powered Roland cube

Very nice! Which portable amp did you use? We're you singing as well or just providing guitar music? Thanks

Hi there . For this particular wedding they did not want any vocals but that’s not usually the case. I played through a small Roland cube

What do you play at weddings?
@FrankPersico2 ай бұрын
It depends. Sometimes it’s what the client asks … in the case of this wedding they just wanted instrumental. Could be the typical Canon in D… or if it’s a cocktail hour I may be singing pop songs.

Frank, been playing weekly at Mexican restaurant, tips seem good, but last night was first night owner didn't offer me a meal, and offered no pay! Customers like it, but I feel insulted, waitresses mad cuz I'm getting the tips, average about 60-70$ night, owner likes it, but disappeared when I was ending the gig, go figure, not sure if I should go back
@FrankPersico3 ай бұрын
Sounds like bad energy there. Waitress mad because you are getting tips?? Isn’t she getting tips as well from serving? As for the owner not offering a meal maybe you could have asked if it’s a place you already have a good rapport with. Sometimes I see that the owners were just busy. Same holds true for not getting paid maybe something came up?!? But that would annoy me highly. I would absolutely contact the venue and find out about getting paid. I would have done it that night by asking if there was anyone else there who is authorized to pay me.

@@FrankPersico not sure I wanna go back, this is why I quit gigging, to much nonsense, it's weird, I'm coming in with all this high energy and get deflated like that,

I worked in the city back then. I'd goof with folks and just stop. Look up and point. Eventually there'd be a mob looking up and pointing.
