In this three day section hike on the Palmetto Trail I am making up some road sections that were skipped during my 2023 section hike from Santee to Peak. A three mile section to connect Boyd (aka Cook Mnt.) to Fort Jackson, 6 miles within Fort Jackson military base, and the big one, 25 miles from Capital City Passage to the Peak to Prosperity Passage at the Alston Trail Head. I was also able to knock out the Lynch's Woods Passage as well.
I took US Rt. 176, rather than SR 215 from Columbia to Peak, the much busier but shorter route, to document what it looks like for those who may choose to take this route. I will show some of the restaraunts along the way as well as how many miles have sidewalks.

Thanks AJ! I just got back from another 130 miles down there and half of it was road!!! My feet were starting to scream at me! I'm currently at mile 415 of the Palmetto with about 90 miles left, nearly all mountains! And once again, I had to make my own coffee every morning, lol!

Man oh man I’ve wanted to get out to the Palmetto. It’s been a warm winter here in Michigan, but even a warm winter has me craving nicer weather like this.

Yeah, I can’t wait to get back on the trail and knock out another 120 miles starting this Tuesday morning! But I’m also looking forward to a huge canoe trip with my wife on the Big Manistee in Michigan in late summer!

This was the first time Mister noticed your tent is camouflage. he said, "Oh, thats smart!" Looks like it paid off on your last night. My goodness that was super noisy! Good thing you were able to get to some mostly quiet spots to sleep. Those lunch packet thingies looked interesting! I'm always looking for something easy. I'd probably be the only one that would eat it though. When we come back from our vaca down there Rugged Mountain Momma always wants to stop along the road and pick up some cotton... we still haven't yet! that looked cool, we'd probably take a lil home! Looking forward to your full Palmetto Trail video!

How in the world did Mr. not know I had a camo duplex, lol, I’ve taken it on almost every trip for five years! I might even bring it to the Indiana meet up ha! Yes, it was pretty darn noisy but like I said in the video, it doesn’t really bother me anymore and it is nice to have some restaurant options after being in the woods for days and days. Looking forward to getting back on the Palmetto this Tuesday and a majority of it will be off of the roads! Thanks for watching guys!

You know... thats a good question! I have no idea why he hadn't noticed that before! We watch almost all of your videos together. Chalk it up to being a 7 year old boy I guess. Hey if you do come to the Indiana meetup you gotta let me know what your favorite ice cream treat is if you have one. We do an Ice Cream Bar for everybody and we will hook you up!@@jasonwish-

Nice! I saw when you were in SC doing these sections but when I didn’t see the uploads I was worried you didn’t film them. Glad you did. Can’t wait to see when you get to the Enoree Passage. That goes right by the town I grew up in.

Yes, I normally film all of my trips but sometimes it takes several weeks to get them edited and I’m often behind on other trips that took place prior. I will be on the Enoree passage this Tuesday!

Camping with road noise. White noise generator usually works for me.

Fortunately, my camping spot was fairly quiet. I always carry earplugs for reasons such as that or snoring companions.

looks like alot of crape myrtles. probably pronounced the same as believe, (ee) sound I think the i is almost silent. heesees perhaps? next time always put extra water in the truck if you going to be using it between trails. you seem to rush into things and forget things, I would of thought you being experienced so you know what you need adn dont need. but anyway teh winter time is ideal for hiking in the south. ohio yo rright is very cold in january, today is beautiful we have had spring temps. really nice. my chickens love it as Ilet them out.

I do believe I’m very experienced and I normally have everything I need, but every once in a while, you forget the little things and they can turn into big ones! Yeah, here in Ohio today I went on a jog in a T-shirt and I was sweating, but more frigid cold weather on the way and I’ll be glad to be back in South Carolina when it hits ha ha.

Possibly. Sure it was noisy but at least it was a short lived and offered some good eats…I can handle a couple noisy days on a 500 mile trail 😁
