Enjoying a sub-zero night out in the mountains of Canada, I construct a shelter and bed from fir boughs next to a large fire that keeps me warm all night. Thank you for watching and be sure to subscribe!

As a child in Texas, every year around January 1st we would collect all the neighbors discarded Christmas trees and make a fort just like this one. What a fun time and they smelled great also. 😀

I had to stop this video at the 4 minute mark. To say Absolutely Wonderful Job doesn't seem even close to enough. The way you were able to maximize your work without maximizing your effort like making a Tree Hook to bring pine boughs back to camp. To make a much more Sturdy and substantial Debris Shelter by wedging the the tree into the trunk after prying it apart using it to work with itself ? Brilliant. THIS is why I chose to learn other things about the Bushcraft world that I'm New to. I have been a Survival Expert in Staying Alive, Primitive Shelter Making, Escape and Evasion and the such. But one thing I have Learned is " When you Have a Survivalist or Instructor who claims to know it all, If They are in a SHTF Situation .... It is their Lives that will be CLAIMED ......" I'm always Learning, Thanks for Teaching.

This was a great video Ryley, of what I imagine to be the true perspective of your remote and tranquil solo wildland outings! I can easily see myself living out the rest of my days in such a beautiful peaceful expanse. I wouldn't have the guts to go it alone like you do though! With my luck, a few bear would have wanted to share that slab of meat with me! I definitely need to watch a lot more of your videos to gain better knowledge and skill before I entertain any kind of Kuskbushcraft! Keep posting, can't wait to see more.

A question? After stacking the logs to burn in your night-time fire while you sleep, why did you lay the day-time fire bed touching up against the stacked wood? It seems the day fire should be a few inches away from the stack, and then be raked up against the stack when you go to bed? That keeps the stacked wood in reserve. I know you have a reason, but I’m not getting it. Thanks. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

Love your videos Ryley, just wish they were longer... Just about the time I'm getting into what's going on, and wishing I was eating whatever it is you're cooking, all of a sudden you're pulling up tent stakes and untying the tarp. I could watch this stuff for like, an hour (each video)... and then go out and do the same things myself ;-) Happy trails!

This kind of camping would be extremely interesting but... At least in Finland there is restrictions what you can do in the forest/property/land which is not yours. For example chopping trees down and setting open fire is forbidden without land owners permission... Even cutting the branches from the living tree is not allowed... 🤔 I apologize that there is maybe some typing errors. ☺️🤔

If you use, evergreen wood, for your fire, when cooking meat, directly, over the fire, you ingest, much creosote, which eventually, will cause problems, in your blood stream, as well as, your nervous system. Use hardwoods only, for direct, meat cooking. Just a word of advice, from a 70-year-old native, of Maine, who, has spent many hours, in the forest, cooking food, on an open campfire.
