Don’t be afraid. Just start with a small overnight car camping trip and ease yourself into it. I am a single woman and I started out like that. Actually still car camping and sleeping in my car (only because I enjoy the ease of not having to set up a tent) but when I started out I would make sure I picked spots by families and have worked my way up to not having to be by people.

Going through the comments so far and it’s refreshing that everyone is super supportive of you and the content you create!! Encouragement is what you offer me (and it seems like many others) in the pursuit of spending time connecting with nature. This past weekend I went on my first solo camping trip (ended up being talked out of solo backpacking, for which I’m grateful for because it was for the best) but you were part of the inspiration for that. It took me entirely too long in life to convince myself to go camping specifically on my own but I did it and there’s no turning back now, it’s something I’m determined to incorporate more regularly into my lifestyle. Thanks for the inspiration for that :) On that note, I wanted to see if you would be willing to either link a video if you’ve done one on this subject or to make a video on what precautions you’ve taken that has helped you feel confident, safe and secure camping/backpacking alone. I recently had a very passionate discussion relating to a difference of opinions on whether the aspiration to plan/do a solo backpacking/hiking trip was a wise decision and one of the reasons involved not enough experience/training. The person who gave me this pep talk is very knowledgeable in emergency medicine, herbalism, survival training, self-defense, etc and I know that it came out of a place of love, it was with the best intentions that they challenged my aspiration but it got me wondering if people like you and others I follow on KZbin, other thru-hikers or enthusiasts, have any special “training” to help them while out in the wilderness other than just personal experience... Just wondering. Thank you in advance for any response to my inquiry. Wish you well!

Such a beautiful video! When I was younger, the summer was always my favorite. In my adult life, I have fallen in love with autumn. It just seems so crisp, refreshing, and a time to pause for renewal. Also, the leaves on the trees changing color is breathtaking here...I live in Kentucky and the woods and foliage this time of year are so colorful. I went on a couple solo camping trips when I was in my 20s with my black Lab named Halo (he was the BEST camping buddy and kept me nice and cozy on chilly nights) There is no better time for clarity and self reflection than solo camping in the fall. Keep up the amazing work and videography. I am in the process of reinvesting in camping gear for my family so we can have some epic (as my 10 year old would say) family camping trips in 2021. Until then, I am thoroughly enjoying your videos to get myself hyped up! Also...you remind me so much of my younger sister Aimee (which is a HUGE compliment!!) Peace, love, and happy camping from the Bluegrass State!! 🏕️

Be aware... depending on the location, you need to be ready for dangerous wildlife. Of course cows are not going to harm you, but bears are out stocking their tummies up on berries and other foods just before hibernation at this time of year. And depending on the location in the US, there are other wildlife dangers as well. Just keep bear spray, an air horn or firearm with you and keep it within reach so you can protect yourself. The autumn season is wonderful to view, but even more wonderful if you can fend off predators of any kind... including man.
