Amazing job of thinking on the fly, coming up with an alternate plan, and also trying to work through the problems in order to stick to your original plan (nice road clearing skills and I certainly would have turned around at the sink hole too) is very commendable Christina. You're such a great mentor to women wanting to get outside, explore, and conquer some fears. Wonderful start to another trip in Temagami.

I've motorbiked into Twinkle Lakes and it's a rough trail even on a bike! Lower Goose Falls can be a popular spot, often with an "ATV gang" camping out there. There's always the big sandbar down below. If you stay right past the falls you can pretty much drive to Upper Goose Falls.It's 8 km up the road to the turn off , follow that for about a km with the last few hundred meters turning into an ATV trail. There is a sand cliff so you can't get to the falls but it's very scenic. Also a good campsite just a little further up the road on the Sturgeon River. The road gets overgrown after that but goes all the way to Capreol.

Janne Blom thanks for all the great information. The road is actually getting much better as it is the road being used to haul out all the trees from solace 😢😢😢.

That's too bad that you couldn't get to Twinkle Lake. Doesn't look like anybody will until that sinkhole gets fixed if it even can. Maybe in the future you can try to access Talking Falls by going through Solace Provincial Park. That was always my plan.

I'm curious what mapping system you use to find portages and camping sites on crown land. I've been using GAIA but doesn't show much up there.
@CamperChristina4 жыл бұрын
This area has a large planning map that is made by the friends of Temagami. If you go to my website at CamperChristina.com on the maps and resources page it’s on the first link in the list I think. It has all the information. I also use a GPS (google maps ) on my phone and I have an old Jeff’s map that is no longer downloadable or transferrable that shows me stuff on my phone as well. So I use all three of those in combination. for the next two Temagami trips, the real twinkle lake loop and the one I just did to Florence lake i’ve also been using Maps from ottertooth.com. Cheers !

@@CamperChristina Because it looked so bloody cold! I guess it's quite a contrast in weather to the Southern Ontario muggy heatwave we've been having. Plus, I am always curious what time of year something is recorded to relate it back to my own tripping. I plan to hit Wasaksina at the end of the summer. :)

Makes sense. We have had a few heatwaves here since that trip. It wasn’t cold though. It was pretty decent temps that trip for the most part. You would’ve seen me in my toque otherwise. Lol. I barely slept in my sleeping bag this trip also and that’s not normal for me. Hope that helps. Cheers
