Too bad the access is so busy now. In the 80s and 90s we rarely saw people there. The road was a little more tough to get into it though than it appears now.

I agree with the bear scat comment - they like to poop everywhere! If you're not seeing it around the campsite anywhere, I'd conclude that at least they're not hanging out.Great "making do" without the regular camping equipment. I got to cowboy camp with a friend last summer, when her tent pole broke and it was super windy. We just bundled up in our bags on the ground in Montana. Had a great night of sleep! Glad to see another video on your channel!

I think we used to camp that spot on the access when we were little kids. I remember there being leeches and then like 10 feet out of from shore it was a straight drop so always had to be careful. Super cool video! Also, I remember terrible storms there as a kid.

I followed your suggestion and bought the Dollarama four dollar headnet. Much cheaper than my Sea To Summit version. I'll treat it tenderly for long term usability. I never used a head net in my younger days and Pickle Lake was the worst I ever had it, partly because it rained all through the summer. Now that I'm older I'm anxious to take advantage of anything that will make life easier.
@CamperChristina2 күн бұрын
I hear ya. Those headnets are best when worn with a hat with a wide rim or baseball cap to keep the mesh off your face. Hope it helps you. 😊😊😊

Another great video Christina! Thank you!! Brilliant to spit your toothpaste into your garbage bag!! For bug bites, I find that Benadryl ointment really helps reduce the swelling and itching. Have you tried it? It’s a bit pricey, but totally worth it, for me anyway. Thanks for all the work you do to share your wonderful trips with us!!

I wonder if the stuff you spray your clothes with causes the migraines?
@CamperChristina12 күн бұрын
I don’t think so. I spray my clothes once a year. I get migraines all the time. Most of them are triggered by food and weather. Cheers

Very enjoyable video. I like seeing the campsites. They're all finer than what I have. Unfortunate about the Giardia. I'm religiously using my water filter these years but in my earlier days I used to drink water straight out of the lake, never had any problems, luckily. And when I worked with canoes doing timber cruising in the Pickle Lake area no one ever talked of filtering water. Also, I watch Russian back country videos. I've never seen anybody use a water filter. Never seen anybody hang up a bear bag either. Of course I am not promoting unsafe practices, just saying that bush practices have seen many changes. Thanks for your video and stay safe.

Shugemery channel uses the portable mosquito repeller by Thermacell. I use the table version and I can attest NOTHING works as well as Thermacell. Also a strip of duct tape inside tent captures many bugs that get in.

Thanks for sharing. I camped on Kiosk with a friend the first weekend in May. We tried to find the camp site you stayed at with your friend Shelly, but due to the high water levels we paddled right by it. We stayed on a site south of the access point on a peninsula with a view of two islands. The outfitter told us that site had a really nice beach.

Last August my wife and I spent a night on the rocky site which I think is directly south across the lake from where you were. Huge chunk of granite shield. Steep access, but a great site that has both east and west views. It is a beautiful lake when calm, but when the wind blows up it's a fight to cross. Thanks for the video. Really sorry to hear about the water issues. 😔

Thank you. Yes agreed it can be quite treacherous when the winds are high. I explored that campsite in 2016 when I was there with a friend and we went cliff jumping off of it. It is a very nice site. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers.
