Love it Sam, I really rated St Sunday Crag in terms of views. Preferred it to Helvellyn actually but did it on the same loop. Wild camp looked boss too.

Back again for Part 2 and the first thing I notice was so much errosion coming down from High street/Kidsey Pike and twice as much water in Hawswater, guess when I walked it, it was under drought contidions as we could see some of the old Village and farm buildings in the valley. My journey on that day was the same as your, camped by the lake and ended the day at the Bar in Shap.

On this section I did Grisedale to Angle Tarn, detoured to take in the Summit of Helyvellyn and to look at the route down Striding Edge and Swirrel Edge, then quickly retraced my path to my Bergen then to carry on to just beyond Patterdale for a overnight wild camp on the banks Angle Tarn. Day 3 saw me traverse High Street and down to Haweswater and onward via Shap Abbey then onto Shap. Another evening in a Pub as a reward and camped at the back of the Pub. Day 4 saw me going over the M6 was a bit of a shock with all the traffic noise but I was soon across the bridge and onward again, after a few miles to rid myself of the traffic noise from Kirkby Stephens, I stopped Near the Nine Standards for a quick coffed then onward to Keld (Not visited for 2 yrs when I did the Pennine Way) which had not changed at all. Overnight camp £2 per night 200 yards from the village shop.

Last year I stayed in the converted Church/Chapple in Kirby Stephens, loverly converted into YHA style rooms for solo or group hikers, I think I paid £10 per night. I was waking from Darlington to Richmond via High Force, Dufton and Kirkby Stephen then onward over 9 Standards to Keld then Richmond. That was more a photo hike now I have a better camera (Canon 90D, 18 -55mm, 70 - 300mm and my then new 150 - 600mm lens) than my 1980's first generation digital camera I used on previous hikes, so it was one rucksack for the camera gear strapped to the front of me and one for the tent, sleeping bag, spare clothes and food strapped on my back. Twelve days of mainly sunny weather apart from the 12 HOUR walk from Darlington to High Force where it rained non stop, the after 30 mins of sunshine it went misty crossing over High Cup Nick to Dufton then back to sunshine as I walked into Kirkby Stephens.

@@Samrculleythat section is mainly in the Eden valley an AONB in Cumbria, it’s quieter than the national parks but still extremely beautiful.
