Here's Part 6: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3emoYSDp72eprM AND AN IMPORTANT CORRECTION: Apparently the people at the beginning were speaking Tamang, not Tibetan. The Tamang people are native to Nepal and parts of India. I knew it didn't sound like the Nepali language, I'd met people along the trek who spoke Tibetan and I'd heard one of the men say "tashi delek" while I was having lunch, which is hello in Tibetan. So I assumed they were speaking Tibetan. I wasn't familiar with the Tamang language. But I ended up talking with someone the next day on my hike down who spoke Tamang, so it will be mentioned in an upcoming video. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamang_language
@Ach20614 жыл бұрын
Tamangs are native of Nepal, and those Tamang in India actually live in Nepali dominated areas and States like Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Sikkim, etc --- which used to be part of Nepal until Anglo-Nepal War (1814-1816).

Agree. I have travelled extensively. When people ask me what was my favourite place it's so hard to choose, but if i am pushed it has to be the Himalaya. I trekked Langtang 25 years ago. OMG it has changed. In those days a lot of people were in groups with porters and tents because there were only a handful of tea rooms/places to stay.

I just want to say for those really enjoying Gabriel’s Himalayas 2019 videos, you should check out his June 2016 Annapurna Base Camp Trek video which is excellent, a 10 out of 10.
@sniffitsniffit-kdbproducti34134 жыл бұрын
Yep, I seen that also. It was very good, and also I've asked Gabriel if would go to Mt. Everest base camp, but he declined and pronounced that it would be too 'dangerous'.
@GabrielTravelerVideos4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bill, here it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn3FmXuhaZmsbbs I will definitely plan to do the Everest Base Camp trek at some point. The issue was that I was in Nepal in December and the EBC is higher in elevation and longer. So it would be colder and more risk of getting snowed in on a longer trek. I'd much rather do it when it's warmer. In fact I probably won't do any more treks in winter, too damn cold in those lodges and the evenings are longer with less daylight.
@sniffitsniffit-kdbproducti34134 жыл бұрын

tamang are also nepali people who migrated to india. They live in northen most states of india where snowfall is very harsh if compared with what you are experiencing there. So those places are perfect for them because they are used to such cold weather. you can meet some of them in Sikkim or even in Dalhousie.

The religion of Nepal is not influenced by India or China. Nepal has its own unique religion who follows both Hinduism and Buddhism. Newar people of Kathmandu valley has unique culture, tradition and religion and follows both Hinduism and Buddhism. That is why we can see both Hindu and Buddhist temple built side by side in Kathmandu valley. The fact is, it was newars of Kathmandu valley who introduced Buddhism in Tibet/China. Nepali princess Bhrikuti married Tibetan king Shrong chong Gampoo around 6th century and had taken many Buddhist statues and scripts from Nepal to introduce Buddhism in Tibet. Jokhang temple of Tibet was built by newars of Kathmandu valley where the statue of princess Bhrikuti and the statues of Gautam Buddha, Buddhist idols and Buddhist scripts which was taken from Nepal is placed. Many Buddhist scripts from Kathmandu valley which was in Ranjana script of newari language was translated into Tibetan language and was sent to Tibet. Araniko who was famous artist of Nepal had built many stupas, pagodas, temple, and statues in China. The design that is seen in Buddhist stupa was made by newars of Nepal. Many stupas, temples in Tibet was made by newars of Nepal. Even many newars had made many statues and paintings in Potala palace of Tibet. Still Many Buddhist statues and paintings that are made in Kathmandu valley is exported to Tibet/China. So, It is not Nepal that is being influenced but it is Tibet that has been influenced by architect and religion of Nepal.
