I just cant trust anything that bleeds for 5 days and doesn't die. All jokes aside. It's nice to hear a girl so open with the reality of the situation. I am used to long term relationships. Periods are just a part of female life. I dated a girl who would High-5 me every time it started and say, "guess what? im not pregnant!"

You can use a water bottle in a public restroom! Does the trick, just hold the cup above the toilet and pour water from the water bottle over it.

I'm a guy and I got the same idea that you're suggesting 2 minutes into this video. Funny that a girl can have periods on a monthly basis and sink-wash this thing twice a day and NOT think of using a bottle filled with tap water. haha

Summer Oleniuk practice! Lol people seem to give up after a couple tries. But keep trying. Watch videos and try the different folding methods. I find squishing it in half then folding it is the one that works for me. It's about the size of a tampon when folded like that so easy insertion.

I clicked, viewed, actively listened, and didn't get glared at, cussed at, punched at, or get yelled at like, "I wish I was a boy!" by my Girlfriend. Your video's VERY helpful advice. Yup, TSS, men can potentially get it too after a major surgery (due to infections). Ladies, just ALWAYS keep hands clean before tampon or cup application/removal: wash before & after. Strictly follow tampon/cup change times directions as indicated. It's a shedding & healing process so, yes, rest, rest, rest🛌. I leave my girlfriend alone.🚪

hi ! when i first discovered menstrual cups, they were said to last up to 10 years. when i ended up buying one, they said up to 2 or 3 years, sooo, the one year thing most definitely sounds like menstrual cup companies need you to keep buying so they can keep selling and thus the "you gotta change it after a year". one thing though, you should find a way to boil it at the end of each period to sterilize it. also, for cleaning up in public restrooms, i would use a bottle of water to rince it above the toilet. thanks for bringing the subject up.

Well, I'm a guy and I applaud you for offering yet another smart and practical tip about traveling, etc. Though obviously it doesn't apply to me personally, I have a couple of friends of the female persuasion who might benefit. One of them at least often checks your posts. A couple things: you could rinse the cup w/bottled water, as another reader suggested. I would also recommend keeping it in a zip-lock bag when not in use. Silicone can be cleaned w/detergent or sterilized w/isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. (Oils, solvents and acids may soften silicone if left on it.) In the background I noticed exposed FIberglas insulation. Solutions: Use the more expensive white fiberglas which doesn't shed fibers; use a strip of heavy-duty gaffers' tape to cover it. You could probably find a plastic molding to cover the gap if you're handy. When insulating a narrow space (as in a van)where you're only going to get an inch of insulation, maximum, it's best to use the most efficient insulation: foam. Polystyrene (sprayed in) or polyisocyanurate foil-backed foam have 3 or 4 times per inch the insulation value (R value) of fiberglas.

Awesome videos Ahle.. on the topic of TSS, both the super absorbent tampons and the diva cups are at risk if left too long. It's because the blood that's left inside you too long can become breeding ground for certain bad bacteria which produces a toxin. While TSS is very rare, it's best to try to empty them as recommended to avoid any risk.

I love my diva cup! I didn't know that it needed to be replaced every year, been using mine for going on 5years😱 Tip on public use: carry a peri-bottle fill with water and then it can be rinsed in the stall that you're in, also baby wipes for hands and nether regions. 😊

What i do to clean my cup while im at work is i take it out pour it in the toilet and i carry a water bottle with me and i rinse it over the toilet that way i dont have to go to the sink. Then i put it back in and i rinse myself if i got any on myself and it only takes me about a minute or 2 since im used to it already. I recomend this because you avoid the walks to the sink and its pretty quick once you get used to it.

Quick period cup travel tip: you can always have a small bottle of water with you when you go to rinse the cup so you dont have to leave the stall. That's what I do even if I'm not traveling and find myself in a stall without a sink ✌ period cups are awesome, in Finland, the lunette cup has no "expiry" date, they say you can use it for as long as you want, as long as the surface hasn't been damaged. (Mine are like...5 years old..?) Remember to sanitize them between cycles by boiling in water if your cup material withstands it!

There could be a million things that are better about the diva cup and I will still prefer to use pads. Not tampons, but pads. I'm not comfortable with shoving shit up there and leaving it in for hours at a time and then still having the chance of it leaking so you have to wear a panty liner or pad anyway. And most people I've known to use tampons have said they use liners so it defeats the purpose. All hail pads lol

FYI, there is no such thing as a "stomach bug" or "stomach flu". Any doctor will tell you (if you ask for the truth) virtually every instance (99%) of incidents of so-called "gastro-intestinal distress" is actually either low grade food poisoning or over indulgence of some sort, occasionally an allergic reaction, and least often, an ulcer or cancer.

🤚Curious!👀 +1 for Communication, it's important for people (especially those about to go through it) to know that stuff. A guy could know why a Lady might have to leave a date early instead if feeling like he did something bad or not insist so much on a specific day when planning the next date. (hasn't happened to me, just sayin) something Culturally so common yet rarely talked about adds too much pressure on people when something unexpected happens, leaving either someone feeling a need to hide it or feel bad, or cluelessly left out on an explanation.. not that it HAS to be done, but the more people who Know about it, the better, it can be understood and expected as a normal part of life.

While thru hiking the PCT a few of the lady hikers learned to pee standing up. It is just way easier for them than having to take the backpack off, drop trou, squat. One of them told me she used a GoGirl urinary director in her tent at night. Us guys all got good at peeing out the door of the tent without getting out of the sleeping bag. At least one girl did the same, for the same reason. Saves all that precious body heat in the bag and time. Nothing gross here. It is a bodily function that every living person has to deal with. What was weird to us as thru hikers spending months on the trail was the loss of being able to pee anywhere as soon as you hit town to resupply.

Also, if you use pads or pantiliners I found the GLADRAGS company. They make cute fabric reusable ones. Wish I'd known about these before. Saves a ton of money. Thx for the topic.

I love my menstrual cup. It's definitely the way to go, where ever you're living. And, you can get a lot of different brands that I like better than the Diva Cup for cheaper on Amazon. I just bought a new cup for $16.

Points for this one. I can not do the diva cup anymore than I can do tampons. I love the benefits of the cup and eco friendliness (and cost saving, score!) but I just can’t go in (if you know what I mean). So it’s pads for me, unfortunately.

just fyi- it's not only women that have periods (and not all women have periods) at first I was like 'finally a gender neutral video' but then it was ruined :( still, good info- as a trans guy the diva cup is so cruisy and minimal (like twice a day!!! whoop!) definitely made that time less mental damaging for me. highly recommend to everyone.

I was always too dry when I had my period. Couldn't finagle a cup. That looks really wide compared to a Playtex applicator, but I'm not squeamish about my own body fluid or my own venus skin. It's just skin.
