What an awesome video, my friend. Stunning nature scenery and just a peaceful moment watching your adventure. I have not been on a hiking mission like that in a long time, but you motivated me to get out there and do more. Thank you guys and sending you much love.

Just watching this again. At 5:45 one of my all time favorite bird songs - the Hermit Thrush. They are incredibly abundant in the Olympic Mountains in late spring/early summer. At slightly lower elevations, at the same time often, there is the Varied Thrush singing away in the forests. And somewhat later - early to mid summer - the Swanson’s Thrush echoes through the lowland forests. But there is just something about the upper elevations when the Hermit Thrushes are singing - especially when first waking up.

I agree my friend! The birds here were incredible. Since I saw no people it was just absolutely serene how quiet it was. Also, the storm that came in a couple times made the birds singing even better for when they did come out to sing.

@@tweedytreks so many great places. I live only 1 1/2 hours from the Buckhorn Wilderness for which I am deeply thankful. But to have that kind of grandeur AND solitude…
@Olympic_TryAthlete

@@tweedytreks there a a few spots in the Olympics that see little use. They involve big trees, but lead to high places with views. With winter approaching, will be valley trips for a while. If you ever get the chance, the Ozette Loop is pretty cool. Haven’t done the Loop itself, but Cape Alava with a side jaunt to Wedding Rocks and the petroglyphs is pretty cool.

@@Olympic_TryAthlete I haven’t ever been in that specific sector - but how nice because that’s a beautiful area. I’m in Spokane - so while nothing is truly THAT close - everything is still close in every single direction. It’s optimal for always going somewhere new.

What a cool hike, the views were amazing, even the meadows were vibrant green and very calm feel to them. I am adding that to my ever-growing list. And a great job capturing the moment with the video... is that up north?

Thanks Ron. The views and the meadows genuinely surprised the hell out of me. I was shocked. This trip was soooo much cooler than what my expectations were. There is absolutely zeroooooooo information on this place too, other than the "Backpacking Idaho" book by Douglas Lorraine .... And what I know. Literally lol. I'm talking NO information lol there was also only one ranger that knew anything about the area and he always called me at like 5 pm regarding my inquires since he was always in the field. Just an absolutely wild, majestic and isolated and humbling place. Navigation here is as challenging as I've ever had. There's like 7 trails on this loop lol. The location is about an hour north of the sawtooths - on the same highway, which is south of salmon Idaho.

Loved this one too. I really appreciate the dedication to achieving those stream crossing scenes. Each one, of course, representing crossing, setting up the camera, crossing back, and then recrossing for the action part. That area looks incredible as well. Did you run into many other people?

Thanks for the support! I liked the shots so figured it was worth it. There was actually numerous creek crossings too. Mostly on the last day. This is one of my favorite places though. Extremely remote. I saw 2 people. No other cars at the trailhead before or after.

I'm doing this in a few days! when you say " I wound up taking his cautioned cross-country route 2/3rds the way through the trip" are you talking about the Park Fork "trail"that cuts across? How easy is that to find? How easy is it to find the trail again after that to get down towards yellow pass?
@tweedytreks

It's a wonderful area. If you haven't left yet, here's what I can relay. At the Snow Bank/Slide Creek Jnct. I stayed right, on Snow Bank. Then, in about 1.6 ish miles is where the game trail shortcut is. It's fairly recognizable, but not marked in anyway and you really have to be paying attention to notice it. Once about .3 miles in, it seemed to easily guide me all the way down to the S. Fork Big Crk-Iron Crk Trail. Keep in mind, again, this is a game trail. Unmarked. Unmaintained. Etc. Etc. One wrong turn and you're lost in some super thick woods. I do not recommend it for 98% of hikers. I read the guide book details on it like 6 times before doing it and that helped recognize where it was and what first couple moves to make before it guided me down. Tree downfall alone, could be horrendous at this point since I did this hike about 2-3 years ago. Anyways, just want you to have all the info I have. Be safe. Have fun. Cheers.
