3:26 This is the real East Europe /Bulgarian/ Citizen . People like that lady build modern Europa/Bulgaria after WW2 - often for free , or for disrespectful salary !!! This noble old generation slowly disappearing . They were brought up in noble qualities such as honesty, kindness, mutual aid and to be worthy as people in their country . For sure that lady retire payment is not more than 100€ per month , but she pay your coffee . She deserve a flowers from you , and be sure she remember you till end of her life .

"Try not to get robbed" said in a perfectly safe neighborhood 😁. You might get robbed eventually in Fakulteto, and only if you are disrespectful to the gypsies there. Sofia is incredibly safe. When I used to live there a few years ago, I would go home in the middle of the night alone, sometimes in a miniskirt, and I never for a second felt unsafe. The only people who have ever made any problems were Dutch and British tourists who think they are irresistible to Eastern European women.

First visit to Bulgaria 17 years ago first night me and a friend went to a local bar in a dodgy looking area. Inside lots of friendly people and a local did order a plate of venison or the tounge of baby dear that he insisted we try. Next day ski instructor was the most kind hearted person and she invited us to go clubbing in Sofia. Beautiful place, look not with the eyes with heart

As a Bulgarian it felt like I already knew most of the people, old nice ladies who just like to talk and take care of the youth, the young mother arguing with her probably 10 to 12 yo child on the phone, the young people who like to be more western and have learned to speak english, the shirtless guy who is approx 40 to 55 and is a pure Bulgarian with patriotism written all over him, it’s all so relatable 😂

I get amazed, Stefan, seems like children from every country want to be or act more "Western". I've always said that children from other countries get taught better in schools, though & speak like adults. In general, I think North America coddles kids & we don't give them enough credit. Don't come for my head, people, I said in general, not all. I know someone has to know what I speak of!!

Sofia is actually a pretty safe city. No one will assault you or robe you in the middle of the street, especially during daytime, mostly during nighttime too (unless you appear in front of a very dirty nightclub or something and start messing with people)...the only thing you have watch out for are pickpockets in crowded public transport ( but there are a lot less of them in recent years)...
