Good video and advice, here's my experience using this guide and some additional suggestions: -Troll mage, started at 44 as the guide suggested -Definitely need Savory Deviate Delights if you are a troll -Spec, I went 32 points into Frost, ignore: imp frostbolt, frostbite, shatter, winter's chill. max everything else (kept blizzard because I sometimes aoe other areas) rest of points into arcane, just make sure you get arcane subtlety, arcane concentration -Took the guide's advice and started a couple graves at a time before I learned the proper kiting distance -At lvl 47, I prefer to open up to 8 graves at a time. I find that going more, I lose my small buffer to make mistakes. -Recommend everyone bring healing potions with them in case you take damage. I have a constant stack of superior healing potions with me. -Also recommend everyone create both Mana Jade and Mana Agate. I use my Jade right away so that Agate is off cooldown once my mana is almost out. -Doing this I currently get about 10k exp every 5 mins, but realistically not 120k an hour because of resetting the instance and prep/loot/killing patrols time -If you have a healer patrol, you can easily dispose of them. Spam frostbolt until close, then fireblast and CoC. Either run/blink away or frost nova and rinse repeat. Counterspell the flash heal and wand the healing totem. Don't worry about the lava totem.

Nice vid, helped a lot with those safe spots. The 2nd one is always the most challenging for me. Usually takes the longest to reset and often results in me still getting hit by casters.

Tip: don't bother with the first rest point when running to the gy, before you get to the first set of blocks run left up the wall then go right past the basalisk, then head to the second rest point saves a bit of time I've managed to get it so I dont even stop at the second set if blocks just run like a madman n blink n shield till you get to the fountain, that's also another thing there's about 4 different reset points in the gy so you dont have to jump up to the top everytime, there's KZbin videos out there showing all of this but dont want to put links into someone else's video

pertty much got this figured out now. the problem i have this with this is that if you dont already knowhow to do this then you arent going to be leveling any faster. maybe not any slower if youre a decent mage and can manage to pull it off here and there. aside from that the main issue i have is that i sometimes miss the jump. sounds stupid but it happens. and its instant death if the group isnt in a specific location. it took me about 25 wipes total to get this kinda down with intermittent success in between. im not a great mage imo but probably average so if i can do this then the average mage with knowledge of the class can do this too. bring mana pots and also time your evocate just after you recast your mana gem so you gain a mana gem and also majority of your mana pool back. you can do it. its certainly not impossible. this has been a great challenge that i enjoyed.

Just ran this twice today on my 42 human mage on TBCC. The first safe spot is perfect, though the second safe spot can be a bit tricky to use and not get killed/stop aggro (due to the spell casters).

Extra tips: 1) You don't have to kill pats if you don't want to/ can't. Simply mark them, and depending on your kill speed, you can kill 1-2 groups before they reappear. 2) If you find yourself going OoM often, use Mage armor instead. Save nova for any resists. When that does happen, be sure to align yourself on the side (left or right) of the group. If everything goes wrong, use ice block and cold snap if necessary. 3) If mobs scatter too wide somehow, blink away and use rank 1 blizzard to corral them back together.

Its very important to make sure you cancel melee attack, sometimes you start attack while clicking graves. If you have it on you can be hit from further away. CANCEL ATTACK during your opening ice block.

The witch doc is easy from lvl 44+ Just use counterspell and kill the healing totem fast. I had few problems with it

FYI you can deal with the witchdoctors, just remember to counterspell their Flash heal, and optionally kill Totems

Also Dampen Magic reduces their spell damage.

You can easily kill the witch doctor if you can CS him fast, then maybe mana pot/Mana jade if you dont have the manapool for him

This^^ Idk if the yt'er never tried to kill him or maybe tried once at 42. but it's really easy.. Just counterspell 1 cast and keep frostbolting him... not challenging. Actually less challenging than the melee ones, because those you need to kite.

I am currently trying this at 45 and am experiencing the same. The first safe spot has failed 6/6 tries so far. I'm undead and I've sat every time just to make sure I should be LoS and it doesn't work.

No, unfortunately the model still has the full hit box of a standing character even if you're sitting.

I also did this method with my mage and have a few things that i noticed/struggled: 1) I started with lvl42 to avoid P2.. as Ebbn mentioned, lvl42 is really really hard. first i thought iam not mastered enough, but as i dinged lvl44 it was much much easier 2) before setting the boss to red you might kill a random elite near him first. no big deal 3) as you kiting the mobs with CoC, try after CoC them to go 1-2 steps back and then moving left/right, as i get some hits not doing that because of the leeway mechanic. 4) Scott said it already in the comments: the witch doctors are killable 5) ThatGuyInACU asked it already: Ebbn how do you reset? Not mentioned in this video (i know you have another one)

he meant u cant kill witch doctor while also aoeing the other mobs. You can ofcourse kill them 1 v 1. I got a question tho, Which rank Cone of Cold is most mana efficient?

Something I've been struggling with on the second reset spot, I keep getting in situations where it seems like there's shadowcasters positioned in such a way that it's impossible to get out of LoS of one without drawing LoS to the other (or going into a spot where you can be melee'd). Am undead. Suggestions?

At the second spot you should position yourself more on the side of the right block and not directly in the middle. When you're running, stick tight to walls.

I would try as a 60 paladin but I could barely do stockades lol, consecrate just doesnt do enough damage and eats too much mana. (lv40 cone of cold nearly has more dps than lv60 consecrate)

should be labelled the most frustrating method of levelling a mage, my god - i need new keyboard and mouse lolol, i cant be the only one failing repeatedly at this - ive made it to the gy once in ~10 tries

it took me 4-5 wipes to get to the gy, another 2-3 wipes to figure out pulling- and many wipes, 10 or so figuring out the aoe tek. ive completed it twice out of 10 tries maybe. its really not that hard but you cant go wrong anywhere or youll die.

The leeway just kills me every time. I can do 3-4 at a time but any more is a nightmare, Also you can hide behind the large pot at the end of the room. I might just be all over the room. Is it best just get the range and just do a circle at the range?

I think the little backpeddle he does before CoC is to avoid the leeway. I don't personally play a mage but a guildie of mine mentioned something like that, you should try it out.

I played Fire until around level 22 standard questing/killing, 22-42/44 as aoe frost grinding open world and 42/44-60 inside of ZF or DM.

if you kite the witchdoctors, the totems won't heal them! use your cs to interrupt the flash heal and those mobs shouldn't be a problem.

I’ve tried this in classic as a 44 mage. I’ve tried aggroing the boss first the popping graves but the zombies don’t run to the boss, the attack me right away. Did the fix this? Any suggestions?

it doesn't work any more in SOM since it was fixed there and the zombies don't run to the witch doctor anymore. But there are other ways to do it.

Log out for 5 minutes, or have a friend invite you and an alt to one group. They leave. When you log off log onto your alt, reset the instance, when you log back in youre at the beginning of the reset instance.

I'm currentlt lvl 53 and did this farm. Although it has a better mana/damage ratio, the time between your CoC is enough for the 4 sec mana regen timer, so you'll regen mana between your CoC. I tried with blizzard but i always ran out of mana, so i just use blizzard when i have evocation.

Get a guildy to help you make a group with your alt. Once you and your alt are in a group, then this is the process. Finish what you need in ZF, log out and log onto your alt. After a minute or 2, party lead will switch from your main to your alt. Reset the instance. Log back onto your main and your main will be at the front of the instance.

Deviate delight doesnt change the height of your char. Trolls dont get smaller and gnomes dont get taller.

I play a male human mage and I find just sitting down behind the rock is enough to LOS mobs if youre in the right position

Another thing, in the last corner near the boss, you can jump up to the top of the troll statue and jump over on top of the wall which will reset mobs easily

if you do the coc method, then i suggest aside from the obvious improved coc talents, and improved nova, get shatter. when you nova and coc it'll do some high crits
