I couldnt even pull this off with a full crew. This and the Myrkul fight were (so far) the only times ive had to turn the difficulty down from tactition. Bravo!

Darkness for the archers helps normally. But I was intrigued how a solo monk was gonna do it. Slippery

@nielsvandersteen4619 It's funny, every time I have used darkness it seemed like a waste of a spell. Ill have to play around with it more.

@@thewavygravy6420 Its so good when you use it with spear of night since it has blind immunity Also good for warlock since they can get dark vision esp in solo Runs you sit in darkness and wait for them to come in and pick them up one by one 😅

@@thewavygravy6420covering the portal with darkness protects it from ranged attacks. I had my whole team sit in the darkness and pop out to make attacks, but really darkness + spirit guardians won that fight for me pretty much on their own.

Lol I did the same thing as a wizard and I had a scroll of globe of invulnerability so I just used that on the portal and it worked thank god (only realised in round 3 when the portal had 11 hp) and safe to say I survived

yeah, i remember i had kind of OP party and was like "heh, what an easy encounter, no one even touched the portal yet.." And then two archers almost killed the portal in one turn. I was in panic mode immediately lmao

Having a cleric with blood of lathander could be even easier to use this exact same strat than as a monk just by using spirit guardians and all undead close to you possibly are blinded and low hp mobs already die instantly, also helps for those shadows going invisible, shadows have a chance to die instantly, only wraith need special treatment. Really nice darkness in front of the portal though hadn't even thought about that. Ranged units can't even target it

I also let my melee party member (most likely Lae'zel) drink elixir of bloodlust and let her wear the killer sweetheart ring from shar's trial and send her on a killing spree aiming for ranged units first, disarming them etc. While the other melee units can just be slowed down by some other aoe attack or scroll or slowing them with grease as what you did. I let Lae'zel use a cloudkill scroll to weaken all the others and to eventually be finished by spirit guardians. Confuse also works nicely on them. This and while Shadowheart guards the portal standing closer to the wraiths or have a paladin smite the wraith to support in damage while spirit guardians eventually finishes him off. That's my strat. I also played one run with wyll as warlock and did hunger of hadar all the easier xd but just to mention, this is all on tactician, not honour mode (not sure if the portal has even less hp on HM than on tac). But with the strat i used they only had a chance to hit the portal once if memory serves

Recently I tried doing this fight without cheesing. We barely made it with literally 1 hp remaining on the portal. Although I tried to kill everything as fast as possible. Didn't occur to me to run out the time. Started another new character. Assasin duergar. Might try going pure rogue. Been wanting to try a 1-shot, 1-kill build for a while.

the big problem in this fight is they ignore you and go for the portal . Good Luck On the run I have been wanting to try out lvl 12 assassin too let me know what you think about it 😀

@@mythicaledeg The early part was rough. Gale and Shadow died in the ruins. The barbarian was the last enemy left, and I had to 1v1 him. I think things will improve when I start fighting goblins.

@@MagpieMcGraw There's a very easy way to defeat those tomb raiders at Withers' place, just go through the door after fooling the guard, kill him before he calls his friends, then pull the lever for the door, make sure to be hidden, then have Minor Illusion close to the one oil barrel, turn the game into turn based mode when you see everyone is close to that barrel, fire or throw something flammable at the oil barrel, watch as you barely have anyone left to fight, the barbarian only had 3 hp left and he died the moment it was his turn from the burn condition when I did that yesterday, and so did the wizard, the rest were either dead or down half hp, easy to kill. Yes that was in honor mode too, they get fooled by Minor Illusion easily. It also kills Barton fast so he doesn't get to throw his alchemist fire at you.

@@MagpieMcGraw Oh that sucks, I managed to land hits and kill them all, then promptly went to battle with that one guy that I just pushed down the hole next door, I didn't think he was alive, but my Tav crit when she hit him with her eldricht blast and since she has a pact of the old ones he was too frightened to do anything and he went down next round, Lae'Zel just finished him off with her Everburn Blade.
