I don't care if what I catch I have to release-I'm still catching. Fished decades for largemouth, never took one home. Those would of been fine eating snappers if in season though. Seen Ryans' vid already, was his B'day black fin trip. Was productive. Was going to be "that guy" about PFD but I won't. Good info on the blue crabs, likely no better here in Bay/Gulf counties. Friend keeps wanting me to do a set but I've been waiting. He and his wife are from La. and do make some fine crab gumbo though, long winter without any.

I appreciate the message! Captain Ryan and I filmed awesome videos today offshore! Keep an eye out for those! Yeah I’m gonna try my traps again in a few more weeks

that set up is what is causing the fish to get off. every time you pump the rod to work the fish in, that egg sinker slides up and then slams into the hook which is causing the fish to come unbuttoned. I would consider a more traditional Carolina rig with a swivel and rubber knot protector so the sinker is still free but not slamming the hook out.

I run Carolina’s sometimes, I may run the 2 rigs side by side in a video and do a comparison! Thanks for the input

@@DustyFishCo that would be a cool video actually. All my years of fishing tells me I am right, but I’ve never tried to test it like that so maybe that’s fallacy. Good luck out on the water and stay safe!
