So in case no ones answered it yet, those “crazy crabs” were actually in a line because they were changing shells. Fun fact: When hermit crabs outgrow their shells, they line up like they did in the video and upgrade shells. Once the biggest crab finds a shell large enough to accommodate him, all the smaller ones line up by size large to small behind him and one by one, change shells. The second largest takes the largest crabs old shell, third largest takes the second ones old shell and so on. It’s pretty cool to see. I believe there’s actually a pretty good KZbin video narrated by Sir David Attenborough on the topic.

This is the first video I have seen on your channel, watched a couple others, came back to comment on this video because what I have to say is relevant to this video. You are ignoring a secondary water source other than coconuts. In other videos you have mentioned you are fond of carrying large (ziplock) plastic bags. They are very useful for water collection during the hot day time, you can simply wrap them around a large cluster of mangrove leaves and seal the open end of the bag by tying a string around it to the stem. It might take a few hours, but the Mangrove leaves will sweat drinkable water, which will be further purified in the plastic bag in the hot sun. For extended survival challenges, you can also use the same plastic bag at night as an (osmosis) water collector, catching night time dew. One bag will not be enough to collect enough water to sustain, but it certainly helps in an emergency situation.

Pull the line tight and with your other hand pull the line sideways and snap it like you're snapping a chalk line. This will send a shock wave through the line and it could be enough to release the hook.If a few snaps don't work it's properly stuck.Works with rods too, just snap it above the reel.

Cool little info, those crabs in the beginning are lining up to do a shell exchange. They all group up, and line up from largest to smallest. Once the biggest crab moves to his new shell it triggers a chain reaction and they all move up one shell. :)

Mosquitoes have needles for a proboscis and still would go through the shirt had he put it on, now had he used the coconut fibers from the first one he found and one of the lighters that "didn't work" and sparked a flame onto the fibers and got a stick to start smoldering then he would not have much mosquitoes to deal with.

That "crazy" hermit crab party was actually what they do when they outgrow their shells. They constantly need to swap their shells as they grow, and the "real estate" market is pretty competetive so fighting over a shell isnt rare. When a crab finds a shell a little to big for it, it waits around the shell, hoping a slightly bigger crab shows up to take the shell for his own. As it lines up, a crab slighly smaller than it waits for the slightly bigger crab to yoink the shell of the other crab. So what you get is essentialy a line of crabs waiting to yoink some fresh new houses. Very interesting that you randomly came across this in this fashion. Many times they will fight over a shell, also tearing their fellow crab to pieces before fighting over its shell.

As someone raised on an island, this was a little tough to watch. 1. Never drink an old coconut. It just gives you diarrhea. You only drink coconuts that are young and where the meat is thin and slimy. 2. All you have to do is smash the pointed side of a coconut against a rock several times and the husk will start to break apart. Then you can easily pull the husk off. 3. I could tell your lure was going to get snagged before you started casting because you could see the rocks in the water right were you were tossing your line. 4. In the islands, it's easier to rub sticks (from the same tree) to start a fire. 5. Never start a fire in a windy area as it won't last long. 6. Wear your shirt to avoid getting sunburnt! 7. Use dead coconut branches to really ignite your fire after your husk catches flame. Anyway, I enjoyed your video but had to cringe at times :)
