Beautiful scene, the snow looked nice. I ran out of wood once and woke up to -2 F. The next time I was lite on wood I cut my fire short and climbed into my sleeping bag. I was sure glad I had some in the morning to heat up. Nice solo trip, great escape
@laffitteoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud and -2 would be a completely different story lol. I might’ve bailed with those temps. Next time I will do as you’ve recommended that way I have a way to thaw things in the am. I was being lazy, should’ve pulled my sleep stuff out sooner. It’s our first season of camping with a wood stove so all of the insights/ tips are much appreciated 😁

@laffitteoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks buddy it got real cozy when I woke up and the side of the tarp was on my legs lol. You should try it sometime. I know your kids are younger so maybe a tent and a place with bathrooms. That’s how we started and still do sometimes. Just holler at me if you need any suggestions for gear. Most of the stuff we use is pretty inexpensive Amazon stuff.

Not going to need that much wood, little bit later going to need alot more wood... Had me dying at 4 am. I haven't been camping since October of 2020 after my motorcycle accident.. But hopefully this is the year I can get back to it.. loved the video. Looking forward to watching more of your content. Liked and shared 💯

Lol yeah it wasn’t too bad when I was running around like a crazy person but as soon as I slowed down 🥶 That’s awful about the accident, thankfully your on the mend! I would think being out in the woods would be great medicine when it’s safe to do so. Are you planning on riding again? We sold our bikes when our daughter was born and switched to boating. Still miss it sometimes though. Thanks for the support buddy! We need all the help we can get lol 😁

The Boogie be like, you go ahead. I'll stay home on this one. It looked like a lot of fun. I remember camping in the winter on Iron Mountain. It's probably fairly close to where you are. Everything froze, our eggs were hard as a rock the next morning. Boy, good times. I'm assuming that's between Boone and Mountain City, on your dads property. Take care my friend and tell the Boogie hi.
@laffitteoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Lol yeah I woke up and peeked outside at my tripod and just shook my head. I had to hike out with it fully open …. Yes this was on my dads property they’ve been getting a decent amount of snow this year! Hope it keeps up and I’ll pass the word along to the boogie. She’ll be back on the next one. Take it easy buddy.

Little chilly but not last year when we went lol. Let’s get something on the books for February and we’ll keep our fingers crossed for snow. I kinda planned this one last second, hence the can of soup for dinner lol.

I don’t know about you, but I’m about ready for some warmer temps. I prefer winter camping but I was stubborn last weekend and got a touch of frost bite on a couple of my fingers.. Gloves are good lol.

Looks like a good time. Not to sure about a plow point though. I ain’t had a stove in that configuration . I reckon I need to try it. You got a sub from me. Winter camping rocks.
@laffitteoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Yea I’m kind of a newby to tarp camping and plow point seemed pretty easy. However it did collect a ton of snow lol, even with me knocking it off.. I saw someone else try a similar set up with the stove and it seemed neat, worked pretty good as long as the wind stays put. Take care buddy!

What's the longest burn time that you've achieved so far with that T Brick stove?
@laffitteoutdoorsАй бұрын
Probably a couple of hours depending on the wood density. I try not to use it all night unless it’s really needed. If I use it all night it’s, up every couple of hours to refuel.
@donolinger6904Ай бұрын
@laffitteoutdoors I've got a T Brick Max and I'd like your opinion about this. You've probably never tried this, so you probably have no idea but I'd still like to know what you think. My stove has a tall burn chamber as you probably know it's a burn chamber on top of another one. I want to cut logs that barely fit inside the stove to stand upright, vertically oriented. As you know they burn longer when left whole and round instead of being split. I have a big baffle that I installed up top at the back to increase burn efficiency and time. I'll have to add a horizontal log on top to do this right. I also want to light it at the top not the bottom of the stove . Top lit fires burn longer. I'm wondering if you think I might get 6-8 hours of burn with low air intake and a low bypass damper setting? Got any idea? I might need to light it with the top off and then put it in place but I have very long nozzle butane lighter to light my stove. Maybe I can light it through the upper door. I think lighting the fire at the back of the stove on top is a good idea too that might also extend burn time. Putting the upper chamber on backwards would enable top lighting the fire at the back of the stove possible with the top on the stove. The top door would be at the back of the stove instead of the front. The owner of 4 Dog Stove company said people get 8 hours of good heat from his largest baffled stove. People report hot coals after 13:hour fires and very little heat output from his stoves but they definitely got 8 hours of good heat.
@laffitteoutdoorsАй бұрын
I don’t have the T-brick max but with the normal T brick, if I am burning oak or some hardwood, I might be able to get four hours of comfort. I’ve never tried the vertical fire, actually I’m just hearing it from you for the first time. what tent are you using this in? Because sometimes that makes a difference also.
@donolinger6904Ай бұрын
@laffitteoutdoors Thanks. I've got a teepee, a hot hammock tarp, a hot plow point and a Stove Hut 70.

Amateur campers 1. You waists 5 minutes of the video walking to your campsite. People want to see you camp Not walking through the woods 2. Most camper don’t know how to use their Wood burner. You never fill it to the top With six logs, the more wood you put in The more heat it will create, and faster The logs will burn. the goal is to stay warm all night, not just for two hours. 3. people want to see you set up or build your Shelter, make a correct camp fire without Matches. More video of the in side your shelter Chopping wood, making things bushcrafting.
@laffitteoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Yes sir you’re absolutely correct. I am not a professional. I just really like being in the woods and sometimes I bring a camera. I’m always learning and will keep your ideas in thought. As a channel we just want to inspire people, families to get out there and try something new. Safely of course. Stay safe and take care!
