I've watched several of your videos and subscribed, really enjoyable and inspiring me to go wild camping. No bushcraft skills but back in the day I'd hitch hike with the basics in a rucksack including an old army sleeping bag, camp was the sleeping back in a field, roadside or if raining any shelter I could find (school sheds etc).

Beech wood is simply fantastic for smoking/cooking pork/chicken/fish/ bacon in a campfire scenario. Shame we moved to Australia, no beech trees in this part of the world. Never mind, all you Aussies- get some green Banksia leaves on the fire if you want to smoke stuff. Another great vid!

Your a soldier aren’t you? You were or grew up with them. Lovely video and you are knowledgeable obviously of the outdoors and survival. If you trained yourself than damn. Your a natural. One rule we always had weather in Jungle or Desert. Sleep with the boots hanging, socks drying, powder the feet. But keep them closer than your heart. Couldn’t do it every day but when possible

Dry rub, indirect heat, then BBQ sauce the last 15 minutes or so = heaven in your mouth! Like you, I can't get comfy in a hammock - give me a folding cot and I'm out like a log. Good Video , Breakfast looked awesome , I'm curious to see what your final thoughts are on the Hammock , I'm still trying to decide if I want to do Hammock or Tent
@KentSurvival7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it did taste good :) I am still undecided on the hammock haha, once i have gotten in to position I have been ok but 'fidgeting' is tricky.
@meanbeetroot38127 жыл бұрын
I tree dwell or ground dwell according to fancy or terrain (I'm good to go with either decision cos of the kit I choose, although adding a hammock does add weight and take up room: some might disagree). My tarp set-up is lower than shown here to reduce visibility and control chilly breezes but as I suffer from back pain (hey, the dinosaurs were puppies when I was young) I use knee pads to protect from those unexpected sharp or hard objects placed on the floor deliberately to injure me and piddle me off (those pesky dinosaurs, they'll do anything for a laugh). I sleep at an angle across the hammock and sleep extremely well, snoring like a bear in a cave. In the winter I rub two boy sprouts together until I get flame to keep warm (keep adding boy sprouts for that cozy feeling - actually, unless I have to cold-camp, which usually happens when a fire would give away my presence as sadly I have no permitted sites, I prefer a fire any time of year). Currently experimenting with a home-made rocket style stove to keep tarp warm on cold nights (as Andy has previously alluded to in a another vlog, it's all about experimenting until you find what's good for you): takes up room, though. I prefer the visibility and versatility a tarp provides but ride your own road mate. Ps: as much as I like beer I find a hip flask of rum, brandy or whisky for my coffee (and sometimes cooking) is easier to carry and takes up less room. Thas jus me tho, hic;)
@meanbeetroot38127 жыл бұрын
Just thinking some more about how I actually lie the hammock: I sleep on my back and believe my feet are to the left of the central line and my left shoulder is on the central line. Shouldn't imagine it matters which way you align yourself. Perhaps others sleep in a different position (?) but this works for me.

I am puzzled...why you didn't do the bacon in the pan first, then the pancake seeing you combined them all in the end. Advantage : the bacon fat is not only very tasty but saves on butter...well, for frying.
